Agree! This is Hard mode in Resident Evil, 1 monster for 1 Clip.
I'm OK but this game should fix and balance for more casual players.
Not everyone want to play Hard mode.

Tbf I'm having quite the opposite experience, coming from recently trying Resident Evil 1 Remastered on intended normal difficulty. I feel like you find plenty of ammo and morphine, to the point where you can just kill every enemy you come across unlike in other survival games where ammo and supplies in general are sparse.

Yea pretty much every area has one nailbox of ammo and on the next door enemy/enemies

This is the real game changer. You'll never feel like you're running out of ammo with this.

Sadly, I didn't realize you could use the crowbar as a weapon until basically the end of the game, so I went into the final areas with very little ammo. They gave me just enough to get through though, so good balance in that regard.

I've just beaten 2 Crawlers (not simultaneously) to death by the crowbar. Though it's really risky, I managed to save some ammo.

I must say, the game needs a button that makes the character turn 180 degrees, like in RE games. It'd be very useful in battles.

It has, I think its even the same as in RE, press backwards and Running together I think.

The atmosphere and the immersion is great, but the execution of combat is piss poor. Combine that with the girl taking a few hits to die, how clunky movement is and the lack of any ability to regularly save it becomes boring quickly.

I've just lost 2 hours of play time because I didn't manage to make it to a save room whilst Caroline casually just stands around ignoring inputs with no sense of urgency whilst getting slowly maimed by some new enemy crawling across the floor at her.

The game doesn't need an "easy mode" it needs balancing.

Not wasting my time replaying the time I just lost, it just goes into the bin and I go find something better to play.

Welcome to classic survival horror. Enjoy your stay

oh don't be hatin on the poor guy who posted this.

The trick is
1: keep your eyes open for ammo. Like... make sure to check every room once you're sure it's safe. There's a ton of it in this game, so just look for it.
2: avoid the enemies if you can. There's enough ammo that you shouldn't need to... but every enemy you avoid is a few nails saved.
3: If you are unsure if you can avoid them... try to kill them. Especially if they're in one of your main paths. Obviously, weight your ammo vs how hard it is to kill them, but spending 6 nails is way better than using a heal every other time you pass through a room.

If you do fight...
1: Keep your distance. Everything in this game is slower than you, and everything but the crowbar has better range than them.
2: Take your time. Get to a safe distance, fire of a couple shots, then reposition. There were a few halls where it was hard to have the damage output to put something down before it got close, but typically you'll have complete control of the engagement.
3: take cheap shots when they're down with the crowbar... but don't actually 'fight' monsters with it. Shoot em or run.

Also, big invulnerable enemies that continually hunt you are a thing in these games. There's exactly 1 in this game. Don't sink your ammo stores into it.

And most importantly... If you leave the room to make them go back to their original places, give them plenty of time. They tend to show up exactly where you left them if you don't give em a few minutes, which can lead to wasted health items.

Huh... I don't think I agree? The girl does die insanely quick when she starts taking damage, and the crowbar is way less effective than the knife in RE games (imho... not good enough to use those often myself), but otherwise it seemed pretty functional to me.

Is it the tank controls? I played with a controller, but the girl always seemed quite responsive to me, except for maybe how slow she lowered her weapon. But then, I had a joypad and she moved whichever direction. if you had a keyboard, maybe it'd be different.

Idk. Sorry man, your experience sounds way different than mine. I don't want to invalidate but... not what i experienced.

I played the Demo when it first came out and also noticed that difficulty and combat are not well balanced, RE1 96 with Chris was tough at the beginning but still better balanced than this, possibily because the auto aim worked better and even dribbling the enemies felt easier, zombies were also weaker, here enemies require plenty of bullets to drop and still clips are scarce, aiming reminds me more of the original Silent Hill, where it was dreadful and missed the target costantly, I hope they fixed it a bit nowdays and balanced it a little bit, gonna buy the full game before the discount expires.

It's difficult at first but once you learn how to reload, evade and how to *time your shots the game gets a lot easier. I finally beat it after a lot of frustration I just needed to learn the way the last level is layed out. Once I figured that out, I know that I can beat it again. I'm on my second play though and I must say that without a walk through I'd never be able to complete some of the puzzles in this game. They are really that hard, at least for me! I just thank god for the guides that are out there and the people who are much *smarter than me who can figure this stuff out! That said, Tormented Souls is a great game with great replay value! I would like to see another game like this from this developer!

I wouldn't say it's hard combat wise, it's well balanced now, I think the very first demo was pretty hard, I remember I had to spend some time to clean up the waiting room, but the final game you play nowdays seems fair enough, I just find some puzzle a little ridiculous with a unique logic to figure out

This really wasn’t too bad. I grew up playing classic REs though so that comes with a few tricks that carry over. I killed all enemies and still had ammo for the end. Trick is to just bait an enemy into a swing and then run around them if don’t have ammo (I always did though). Also crowbar them like others said once down. Dont get greedy if they getting up just fall back don’t go for that extra swing. The bigger guys I’d put one shotgun bullet into them and then finish off with nails or crowbar. Once I got the lance same thing, one lance and then nails or crowbar. I also entered the final boss with 8 morphines and 3 full kits, there is plenty of health around. Kite enemies to avoid damage. They aren’t hard to avoid and most of the time you see them well before the fight starts so can make a plan to aggro them and run back a safe distance before firing.

Tape to save I can see though. I finished with 4 or 5 extra and that was with knowing this was classic survival horror you don’t really want to save unless get some decent progress. The beginning was really tight on tapes I only had 1 or 2 extra and again that was with me knowing I had to horde them a bit. I could see that being a stress on new players. I only died 3 times, two being towards the end because I got sloppy having so much excess healing items I was just trying to crowbar down enemies while tanking hits 😂. Good thing about these games though is even if you die and lose an hour of progress, you know exactly what you did and how to solve any puzzles so getting back that hour of lost progress takes 10 minutes.

Just wanted to chime in for anyone that might be in the fence and read this thread thinking the game might be too hard for them. It’s definitely doable ending with a surplus of supplies if you plan ahead and use all the tools available when fighting enemies. Great game, hope there is a sequel or another classic survival horror in a different setting. They captured the feeling of PlayStation RE games really well.
