Adding to Speedrun dot com + suggestions :)
Hey there,

First of all, I just want to say thank you for bringing your vision to life and making this wonderful and much-needed contribution to the taxi simulator / racing genre.

I have been speedrunning the game around the $1000 achievement (get to $1000 in the fastest time possible in standard mode) and made my formal submission to Speedrun dot com over the weekend. My vision is to have the category broken down by character and difficulty + also another category for the $10,000 achievement. I'll follow up here once the leaderboard is live.

With speedrunning in mind, I have some suggestions based on my experience of the game so far...

1. I'd love clear attributes for each character and their car to be made visible from the selection screen. Perhaps assign stars out of 5 for each character's attribute? Top speed, acceleration, handling, etc. Maybe even include the name of the character, gender, DOB and a fun fact such as their favourite food.

2. Please allow us to return to the main menu from the pause menu. Currently I only seem to be able to restart or quit the game entirely.

3. For jumping up and down floors, I'd love to be able to invert the control for this. It gets a bit confusing when you use the natural steering direction setting.

4. I'd love it to be made clearer what collecting coins does. I'm not sure if I remember this being mentioned in the tutorial, but a clearer on-screen notification of added time upon coin collection would certainly be nice.

5. An on-screen pop up showing the customer's destination, a small picture of the location and its respective floor level appearing when picking up a passenger would be VERY helpful. It's not always easy to listen to the dialogue to get this information.

6. Adding the number of passengers transported into the HUD would also be great for those of us trying to beat our PBs.

Right on, thanks. $10k is a hard one to hit! Would love to know how fast people are able to do it.

This sounds do-able. I'd just need to know how to relay the details in short form and a way that's meaningful to players. Will see what I can come up with.

I know! Can't believe I missed that. I actually had this change coded a few weeks ago but ended up having to roll-back, so I lost that change. It's in-progress again.

Yeah I suppose right now it's not terribly clear. I'll see if I can emphasize it more.

I agree. And I started on a system to do that last year. It got very difficult to implement in any efficient way since there's over 300 locations at present. But I may take another stab at this because I think it'd be helpful.

About this one - it used to be there. Strange. The fact that it's not there is a bug.

Thanks. I'd like for it to be cleaned up a bit, plus the "Race" mode (currently in development) to be done before I look at that. But the game is definitely begging for a console release.

Thank you for the response!

I don't think I made it clear how much I am enjoying the game in my original post, so once again, thank you - it's visually stunning and the flying car aspect makes it so much fun to play. I'll save the rest for my review I will write shortly. :)

I've been having a few challenges getting Mile High Taxi to be approved on Speedrun dot com given there isn't a game mode with a recognized completion, so I'll wait until Race mode is ready and try again. Super excited for that.

I really appreciate how receptive you have been to my suggestions. I'll follow up here with anything else I think is worth mentioning. Currently, I am speedrunning $1000K with Kyle and my best time is just over 10 minutes. Once routed and optimized, I think I should be able to get it down to 8 minutes pretty comfortably.
