If I were making the leap to something else today I'd go to keyboard or leverless. If youre going to learn a new method I think this is the best way to go.
I've tried leverless and hate it, but I also acknowledge that my execution on a stick isn't the best and that my Guile play would be 10x better if I learned keyboard/leverless.
"The grass is always greener on the other side."
i've never heard of anyone do a standing 720 on pad
jus putting it out there lol
in fact i never heard of that on a kb/leverless either
yea execution takes time, but like all musical/instruments etc
once u get the hang of it it's really fun and almost hard to put down
leverless/kb makes u look like a cubicle dork hahahahaha
Instead of seeking advantage, I'd advise seeking comfort. If you're not feeling any kind of physical strain from pad, I'd stick with it. If you have cramping issues with pads or thumb blisters, stick will tax your hands less (And leverless even less than stick if you're carpel tunnel prone).
If you're in a position to seek luxury, Stick has a distinct vibe to it that pad can't evoke, but that could just be my nostalgia talking.
I prefer using Pads but the Tournament Fight Sticks are perfect for playing Street Fighter games like this one. I highly recommend spending the money for one.
You get perfect respond timing. It just feels perfect. It makes those difficult combos extremely easy to use in a real tournament like EVO or rank and casual matches. -- I even use it for playing games like Cyberpunk 2077 and GTA 3, 4 and 5.
The Hayabusa is about 2/3rds of the weight of my Pearl. I wouldn't mind the pearl being a bit heavier either. I was thinking more of their smaller intro level sticks though, which they don't even seem to make anymore outside of the Mini. I use my whole arm for motions though, not just my wrist.
The Pearl is also no longer available new, at least directly from Qanba in the US. Obisdian 2 looks like a good alternative there though.
Not true
purely preferential
The Birds don't have any problems winning tournaments on sticks, amongst other high profile players
Like the old saying goes, whatever works for you.
But yes, you should use what you are most comfortable with and most fun to you. They are all very efficient and nothing is necessarily.
Personally I rotate between all, as I learned them all in SF6. Pad is most convenient because I am too lazy to pick up my hitbox/stick lol.
The real game changer is a hitbox, but in the most cases you don't really need one. Just use your keyboard with UP input mapped at space button. It's like demo version of device. If you'll like it - go on. Also it's a bit cheaper. Big ones with Sanwa buttons a way better than cheap mini - it allow you to do a bit more cool stuff with sliding.
