Some Concerns Before Buying the Game.
Recently Capcom has announced that when localizing games, they do not do direct translations from Japanese, but rather modify them based on the country they are localizing. Reason given being that "Japanese Culture would hurt some users".

Looking aside the nonsensical statement of "Hurting people", I think this is a very concerning thing to take into consideration, which gave me some pause from buying the game, which is a shame because I quite enjoyed what the demo had to offer.

Part of the reason people like games from Japan is because of the Japanese aesthetic/culture. I don't want a Japanese game talk like it's an American game, because of I want that I'd get the new Fable game.

Though I would like to ask how is Street Fighter 6 in regards to that?

No idea what's changed, but I skip the dialog regardless. Considering World Tour mode has limited voice acting, and the cut scenes of interest(those with street fighters) are voice acted nicely, I see no problem

There are many dialogues in wt where the characters say something completely different than what you see in the text boxes.

Outside of wt characters have 0 interactions whatsoever anyway, every character has same corny phrase for every match with every character.

They feel like liveless bots. 0 immersion.

Most people don’t care about dialogues in fighting games. If not for options I could play in Japanese.

This is a fighting game, not an immersive RPG experience.

Well you csn use japanese voices for characters (not customs i think?)

But the world tour dialgue is basicly ignoreable anyway. I wouldn't be worried about it being different. Its probably very minorly different

Every publisher does localizations

Marisa is based on Arnold Schwarzenegger, very woke. I suggest you do what others did and buy the game but post endlessly in the steam forums about how woke it is. We are running low on entertainment.
Skip buying until they fix the bugs

Every company on the planet does a localization. You can't translate Japanese directly 1:1 to English

I mean, there's a bit of a difference between a lady looking like a Musclemommy, and a lady having the chiseled jawline that would make Cavill blush.

So long as she doesn't go around being that Machoman Randy Savage character from South Park, I think all is fine.

True, but usually when you have localizations/translations from Japan, you'd normally expect the translation to be roughly around the lines of the original, with a bit of difference if need be.
What you typically don't want to see is a completely different line of dialogue being said that wasn't present in the original, soured by the knowledge that it was likely done so because Capcom decided that the original line would've "Hurt" some tiny minority out there.

If this is true, it's absolutely the most idiotic reason someone can give.
Do they not realize they are Japanese company?

Capcom made a statement that said something along those lines, about how they plan on different localizations depending on the country, which really just means "Make a localization to appeal for The West".
https://boundingintocomics.com/2023/06/09/capcom-declares-that-simply-translating-games-developed-under-japanese-norms-can-end-up-hurting-users/

Quote from the article: "Concluding their statement with a disappointing bombshell, Capcom happily informed potential business partners, “What is more, depending on the country, simply translating games developed under Japanese norms can end up hurting users unexpectedly due to historical, religious, or cultural differences. As such, we focus on employing staff from around the world to culturize the games so that they can be enjoyed by all, regardless of locale.”"

And that is why I'm a bit hesitant about putting my money down for a game who's demo I found enjoyable.

An informative article should not be telling you their statement is disappointing, do you get all your news from biased sources?

Don't quote an article like it's real information when it's an opinion piece.

You mean like every single pop culture site that exists? At least those that don't have a lot of articles on buttplugs.

Instead of getting antsy about the fact that the author of the article has his own thoughts on the matter, you should take Capcom's statement into consideration.

Marisa looks like they took female face and slapped it on a male body.
