Pad players, how do you perfect parry?
Pressing LT seems more mechanically simple but is slower due to the trigger having a longer travel time.
Pressing MP and MK together seems more difficult but is instantaneous.
Or maybe you have a custom layout?

MP MK here. Look into decent 6 button pad without shoulder triggers but regular buttons. I use hori fighting commander. Or they have mods to shorten the trigger length.

depends on how you configure the deadzone for the trigger buttons. but generally i use mk+mp
I use MP+MK for parries and one of the shoulder buttons for DRC

That sounds terrible.

Meh, feels comfortable for me. I use a Hori FC Octa

I have a Saturn pad like (Hori Fighting Commander), so MP + MK are pretty accessible to me. I imagine the same input would be somewhat more difficult on a Playstation or Xbox pad.

It might feel natural to map that input to a shoulder button vs a trigger.

A surprisingly well priced pad. That's strange. I still wouldn't expect it to last as long as any leverless, but it's something worth considering. Why wouldn't you just use the macro for both?

Even still. Parry is too important a button to risk messing up. But you guys do you.

My Fighting Commander 4's been with me for like eight years. I'd call that a decent run.

2017? That is indeed a good run.
I bought my stick new in 2016 and it still is going strong. I've only started to use it more frequently after the pandemic though
I would too. Maybe it's a hori thing. With controllers nearly universally coming with joystick drift, and mainstream controllers coming with awful d-pads only suitable for navigating menus, I've little faith in pad controllers in current year.

My Hori D-pad does what it's supposed to do. Input mistakes are from me and not the pad (although I am looking for a different model as its Dpad is not great for short-hop inputs. I tried an 8Bit Duo recently and it had ghost inputs out of the box).

Sadly, my model isn't widely available anymore to recommend. Anyone have any kind words to say about the Victrix controller D-pad/fight pad buttons? I've been keeping an eye on it but that's a lot of money to replace the already working controller I have.

How are short hops on leverless? I've never touched kof.

I'm using an xbox series x pad and I'm really happy with the d-pad and buttons.

I don't even know which xbone pads I own. I lost track of Microsoft's console iterations at some point. But it's not for me. At least not for fighting games.

I couldn't tell you. I couldn't get into leverless. I grew up with pad and playing on pad is part of the experience for me.

My guess though is that it's great for short hops since you can just brush the buttons with your finger/thumb to achieve them.
