Give back Zangief GREEN HAND from SF4.
He is too weak.
In SF he has the ability to pass through fireball.
Now he has none. How do you want player to play against JP throwing ball.
Weak long range neutral that can be counter with the DI.
Drive rush is another story.
Reduce 360 damages, I do not care, but he loses in too many situation.

You forgot about Lariat.

I thought that if they were going to keep it from him it would be a "he doesnt need it" kinda situation but idk, maybe they should have let him have it this time.

go play SF4 then.
all he needs is a little boost on lariat, he doesn't need a degenerate a** move like green hand in sf6. it's the same as asking for non-OD invul DPs and DP fadc cancel in SF6.

Doesn't need it.

Idk, drive parry seems like the only tool he can reliably use, lariat is just not a good tool to avoid fireballs unless you're in striking range. Just gotta work for your SPDs this time around. I'm currently sitting at gold 2-3 with Gief and I can't see myself improving my rank unless I work on my MUs.

Don't get me wrong, he feels hella gimped, I guess the thing that remedies it tho is the SPD damage, but I feel that angle is a little weak, since you still have to put in far more effort than the majority of the roster in order to win your neutrals, the damage reflects that almost perfectly. I think if he'd have a reliable anti crossup tool and an actual lvl 1 super, he'd become far better than he currently is.

This topic is much more than just "Give Gief Greenhand."

There are ways that the devs can improve Gief immensely and some of it is so obvious, it feels almost intentional that he has no good anti-crossup or that his lvl2 is almost always just barely outside of range and the opponent is at the exact spot where they want to be as well as it being so slow and reactable. He's very much a hard-read kind of character, like his lvl1, Tundra Storm, lvl2 (specifically used to catch proj spamming chars in reach) and air SPD.

I wish he were better, I love playing as him and don't want to give up on him, so I'll just try to work with what I have.

He doesn’t need it in my opinion. There is no chip damage for the most part. He can parry, drive impact through them, armour trough with his charged punch or simply jump over.

He needs different buffs in my opinion however but he is fun to play already.

You people are still in diamond or below.
In master is another story.
Example
- ALL (every of) his long range neutral are slow and can be counter with DI (This is important)
- Lariat can sometime pass through fire ball and it is useless against fire ball. Also do not work against cross up.
- His cross up down HP is BS. With his big body, why sometime it does not touch??
- Forward HK is BS. punishable in every situation.
- Can not escape wall. He can do nothing. You have to block everything.
- 2x crouch MK and HK is another story.
They gave him useless new moves.

Jump or parry. With a perfect parry you get to move instantly and it looks like you didn't even stop walking.
Parry is universal too.

I heard ryu players saying gief is a difficult matchup cause he can just punish ex lariat the fireballs and it gets worse once he gets his lvl 2.
idk tho cr. mk still kills me

I agree with that list but how a green hand change all his problems? Also no need to talk down to people when we all just politely share our opinion.

I missed SFV, so I wonder what exactly a green hand is? What does it do?

green hand is his DP P in sf4/SF alpha3 which the EX can pass through fire ball and also invincible. With that he has the ability to close combat range really quickly for pressure.
Melheck Aug 13, 2023 @ 5:08am
Green hand or Banishing Flat is an OG move of gief since sf2 that was removed in SFV, last seen in sf4 (ig sfxt technically)
dp input punch button, made gief move forward a bunch and was mostly used to get a better position on the screen, after a SPD for example

edit: oh yeah it was also his invincible reversal, rip that

Oh, cool! Sounds like Drive Rush with invincibility against projectiles. I wouldn't mind having that:))
Melheck Aug 13, 2023 @ 5:15am
only the ex had invulnerability but you could be super cool and space the normal versions so your green hand hits the projectile, sometimes even letting you punish fireballs with SPD
