Good luck and dont get stressed everyone learns at their own pace
The default one (Luke) is fine while you progress through WT. Once you find Ken, I'll recommend you to use him as a Master since I find his overall movement speed faster and with more "far-reaching" options.
You can still use the moves from the other Masters that you have unlocked so you are not missing out on them. For me, Ken is faster and more straight forward.
Luke's punches and kicks "seem" too short for me. I'm a casual, I'm lv 79 (working in getting to the cap) in WT and I have 6 Masters left to cap, and so far, when I used Ken, the game became a little bit faster when completing the matches and the grind.
Best regards.
The special moves I kept on my character were:
Gladius (my most used move in WT)
Ryu's Shoryuken
Dee Jay's fireball
Manon' Half Circle Grab
Zangief 360
The Super Arts:
Lily SA 1
Luke SA2
Ryu SA3
