I bought a custom made hitbox in the UK
If you're in the UK and are thinking about a leverless controller / hitbox, the most recommended vendor I've found is https://furinarcade.co.uk/

If you don't know what a hitbox as a leverless controller for FGs is, here's some kind of video I just found and didn't fully watch. It's short! https://youtu.be/p64SXrHCPjw?t=97 Especially because I start it at the most relevant bit.

I've been playing SF ranked on keyboard, with space to jump, and it feels really good. I can also do Zangief 360s and 720s on it easily (360s from standing, although they're really just 180s from either forward or back+ a diagonal up because you don't need 360 at all, 720s from jump, parry, forward kick knee etc).

Keyboard feels so good I've decided to try a hitbox. I'll review the product and the experience here when I get it, as it's custom made and then delivered it could take up to a month.

I really hate how the most standard layout spaces out those buttons.

The cramped Gollum position you have to be in to have your hands so close to each other just doesn't work out for me.

Even when you are typing on a PC keyboard for majority of the time you fingers aren't the close to each other. The position of the jump button especially is just atrocious.

This vendor makes completely custom designs, feel free to ask them for more space between hands.

Honestly i would recommend just building your own.

If your on PC you only need the zero-PI board that costs like £25-£30, a box that could be as cheap or expensive as you like, a dozen buttons and a pack of wires.

Pre-made hitboxes seem wayyyyy overpriced imo

Yeah, I've bought a Mayflash F500, and it's fine, but keyboard feels even better than stick for quick and clean execution.

Sort of. It depends on the parts you use, but I still recommend building.

  • ~100 : enclosure
  • 40-60 : sanwa buttons
  • 25 : zeropi Brook board (for a universal PCB triple that)
  • 30 : wiring, brackets and wire connectors

You're still looking at around $200 to make one yourself.

It's "slightly" cheaper than building a fighstick due to the lever cost, but barely.

If you see a hitbox with sanwa/seimitsu parts for around $250-300 and don't want to spend your time on it then it's not a bad deal.

I still recommend doing it yourself if you have time, because you'll learn a lot and can customize it yourself which is actually pretty fun.
