Is this just a start of SF6? Will there be more updates for years?
Im looking to study and invest my time in a fighting game and like to start with SF6.

Am I late to the party? I really want to learn the game but also want a game that will get many more updates and characters :) thanks

Despite horrible player retention SFV got five years of updates, SF6 is having the best player numbers seen in a fighting game since basically SFII so it should see at bare minimum three to four more years of updates. And it still has plenty of newbies playing, there'll obviously be an influx of newbies during a big sale so you could wait out the upcoming autumn sale but even if you buy it today you should be able to find a steady flow of opponents no matter what rank you calibrate into. (But why get it at the full price now when you can get it at a discount in a few weeks tops?)

SF6 is still among the most popular fighting games available in terms of player counts. It's about a sure a bet as you can get in terms of a diverse player base, barring waiting for another fighting game to launch (closest new one I can think of is Fatal Fury 7, but that's definitely a game with enthusiasts, rather than newbies, in mind).

There's at least 2 more characters coming to finish out S2, and teases for future characters in future seasons, so this game will probably be here a while longer.

You can 100% expect updates for 4-5 years. This is a super healthy game with a supported pro-scene and everything

You are not too late at all.

Definitely not too late, this is still the strongest fighting game and there are still plenty of newer players to play against.

Really, dont waste your money in this game.

Capcom are milking money like a cassino machine from Street Fighter 6 community.
First , they sell for you the base game, so they come with their famous "Character Passes", a product that cost same price of base game and only give you 4 characters on the pass for you to buy. It means, if you buy SF6 and the Character Pass season 1 and 2, you will be paying 3 Street Fighter games for Capcom.
Just remember, these 8 characters packs they're selling for us by same base game price, aren't even near the total character host that this game have, so i ask you, how often do you think that you'll need to pay to complete the game host with these 4 char passes?

Lets try to find out: (Just simulating base pack´s, there's even a more expensive version for those who dare to pay for it)

T.Hawk - Fei Long - Dan -viper / 30 Dollars (30 is base, can be even more)
Sakura - Makoto - Abel -gouken / 30 Dollars
Sagat- Balrog - Vega -Necalli / 30 Dollars
Cody - Guy - Poison - Nash / 30 Dollars
Yun - Yang - Seth - Mika / 30 Dollars
Alex- Dudley - Sean - Laura / 30 Dollars

I'´ll not even continue the character list becouse it could become giagantic, and i listed all packs 30 bills when in fact it can be much more.
So i ask you, are you ready to pay for this company so much to get the complete game in packs of 4 characters 30 bills + each release?
Im not even talking about all items they are selling on Woke TOur mode.
The money is yours, you decide, but to me, this game do not worth a cent, i recommend for you to wait, wait Capcom release a Super Street Fighter 6 game, they always do this, so the game will come complete, by half price of the game base. For now it a waste of money!

You are a little late to the party but if you have the right mindset it's irrelevant. Accept you'll get cooked the first bit and after a little while you're likely to have an incredible time.

Every game has it's naysayers, whiners and haters but the vast majority are just salty bad players.

There's a reason why SF6 has the best player retention of any modern fighting game and an ever bright future.

I can't say for sure if you should jump in as with most fighting games that really comes down to personality and taste but it's certainly worth entertaining the idea heavily.
