I don't use mods nor do I care for them, but their ignorance is really frustrating sometimes.
None of my mods work right now.
"“For the purposes of anti-cheat and anti-piracy, all mods are defined as cheats,”
They even acknowledge that "the majority of mods can have a positive impact on the game."

Context matters because Capcom isn't necessarily out to punish everyone who mods their game. This, plus the other points about reputation damage and wasted resources on customer support, suggests they're acknowledging a problem that is going to require a careful approach to address.
Whenever a game, any game, gets an update, mods break.
Edit: And yeah, it is a known thing across all games that mods break when a game receives a substantial update, that isn't the devs actively killing the mods, it's just the back-end of the game being changed so the mod files no longer correlate to the right parts of the game. Thus they need fixing. It is not a dev actively going "Let's see if THIS will stop modders".
(Also wild how you can have mods while not owning the game, way to reveal you're alt accounting)
Besides, my mods for this game have worked since I installed them months ago.
The mods to give you Modern controls, because you lose them so much? Nice.
My mods work fine, too ('Gief in a suit, dark training room, and pixel art portraits).
