So it seems like
1) Pass will be monthly
2) Works as usual battle passes
3) First pass seems to be free OR you buy the bottom section with drive tickets, so you have free pass, drive pass or some ♥♥♥♥ and premium paid only pass.
in fortnite if you finish the battle pass you get your currency back so that you can buy the next ''battle pass'' for free without having to throw 10$ at your screen every season , hope capcom does the same here.
SF6 already has Season Passes.
Fortnite is an exception to this. Better pray instead that you can still earn the rewards after the pass ends either by backtracking or from elsewhere.
* Season Passes
* Day 1 Battle Pass
* Other Microtransactions
* Possible Storefront DLCs
We don't even know how the non-BP microtransaction situation is going to be yet Blizzard was awfully transparent about theirs.
Better hope to god SF6 let's you earn rewards after the monthly BP expires through backtracking or from elsewhere.
Ok, I can understand being iffy on the battlepass. But all that other stuff is bog standard for a street fighter game, or any of the big fighting games for that matter, for the last few generations of them. They have always sold characters (season pass), stages, costumes, costume colors, and sometimes (though rarely) music.
They have been doing it for a while, just in different ways, at first they would just release different versions of the same game with new characters, now you just buy them all.
I remember r/pcgaming and even r/Games just yesterday and throughout the past few months ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on D4 for being monetized as such. Meanwhile today all their eyes glow up after seeing the SF6 reviews. Zero talk of SF6 microtransactions and BPs anywhere in today's threads.
Limited time cosmetics (Battle Passes, etc.) are fairly new to fighting games. Granblue had Battle Passes, NRS games are monetized to heck, and SF5 had the crossover challenges with ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ AI.
Cosmetics that can no longer be obtained is new to Street Fighter. MONTHLY Battle Passes just makes Capcom seem scummier than other companies that implement them.
But still I will wait for some weeks to get a proper review of the battle pass,
