After stuffing a few of those, you could probably condition your opponent to stop using that option and proceed with your higher conversion setups/openers.
The FGC needs to shut the ♥♥♥♥ up and sit down. DI is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ problem and the fact that it costs 1 bar is busted AF. An OD and drive rush combo costs more - what the ♥♥♥♥ is that?! Game sucks ass right now and I'm really struggling to enjoy it solely due to drive impact which is the worst mechanic that I've ever experienced in ANY fighting game. No mechanic has ever been this bad - if SF4's focus was unga bunga to the max, it'd be drive impact, but focus attack actually had a mindgame behind it. You could juke it and it had 3 levels of charge.
Drive Impact Fighter is GARBAGE. I seriously ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ feel sorry for people like Daigo who have to play this crap for a living right now. What an awful job. Playing this ♥♥♥♥ all day "professionally" would make me want to jump off a building in its current state. This ♥♥♥♥ is so bad that I actually find myself wanting SFV back and the V triggers and crush counter fishing was already tons of yolo random garbage robberies in that game too.
DI is the scummiest mechanic I've ever experienced. It feels like ♥♥♥♥ to win with it; it feels like ♥♥♥♥ to lose to it.

How the ♥♥♥♥ is everyone going to get every DI guess right? A singular wrong DI guess against Zangief means you'll be dead off that raw 720 super 3. I'm for Zangief getting some buffs and being viable, but that ♥♥♥♥ is stupid.

I play this ♥♥♥♥ for like 20-30 minutes stints and I'm fried and over it. Anyone who says this game is fun right now is spewing a buncha BS. "Getting good" just feels like you played the dumbass Drive Impact Fighter correctly right now. Don't bother with anything else if that's all the one dimensional unga bunga meta revolves around.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Mortal Kombat is a deeper fighting game from experience in SF6's current state. If this is the future of SF for good, then I'm done with the franchise. That video I posted is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful. That's the state of the neutral. Don't hado or cMK because that's too risky if a DI might happen. Who the ♥♥♥♥ wants to play a game like this for years? I don't. Casuals sure aren't going to keep DI'ing eachother into raw supers for years either.
The game needs to be FUN and ENJOYABLE for both casual players and competitive players. It isn't fun for either playerbase in this state.
Or go in for a throw, but step back at the last second, they whiff their throw/reversal, then you go in for a combo off the punish counter?
If the entire wake-up game is teching throws, then that means their throws are predictable. So you can tech out their throws and you can bait theirs?
I'm a filthy High Iron player and I've managed it more than once.
But I'll give Capcom thumbs up for making right analog mapable so I can map Drive to it, as I did with Focus attack.
It's sad because matches where you don't have some tool abusing DI's that you have to counter non-stop are actually pretty great.
I agree - It's just way too much and it needs to be toned down so it can't be used non-stop. You should get like 2 uses tops per round and then burnout. The fact you can throw it out there almost nonstop means any block strings are much riskier than is healthy.
Actually a huge skill issue here.
You see the dumbest players imaginable that eat AAs 9/10 times win because of the DI button which they can effectively press for free forever. They're too stupid to figure out a move is +1 on block and eat the following cLP every single time. They'll eat the frame trap almost every single time and can't figure this out. Capcom envisioned what they wanted - any totally lobotomized glue eater can win now. CONSTANT DI fest. It doesn't end. Ken is going to DP and/or DI. Over and over and over again. You just continually punish him, but once in a blue moon he gets lucky.
This is especially applicable to Manon and Zangief. Manon starts round 2 with 3 to 4 medals? You're probably screwed because her damage is stupid as hell off a singular command throw after that so now she's really banking on that stupid mechanic landing. If I gave a damn about this game, I guess I could grind it out to plat or diamond, but I don't even enjoy playing this right now. It sucks. It feels like garbage and winning or losing via DI is the scummiest thing imaginable. Where's the sense of accomplishment or reward? I'm not feeling it. Is anyone?
Yes, you can "win" by constantly punishing morons that want to press the button, but having the entire game revolve around this crap is nauseating and feels like ♥♥♥♥ to play. I'm fine with playing the Oki, but I don't want to constantly be navigating this trash mechanic in the neutral. Anybody who tells me that they're enjoying this is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ liar.
DI adds no value to this game. It makes the game maximum unga bunga and it sure as hell isn't helping the new players learn ♥♥♥♥ about FGs. They're not even bothering to learn the neutral, what frame traps are, how to not eat an AA, what tick throws are, what meaties are, etc. This is terrible game design and it isn't doing the new players any favors. "I didn't learn anything beyond how to DI and raw super. They kept punishing me for doing it so I uninstalled the game. 0/10 bad game!"
If this is the new direction of fighting games, I'm done with the genre. ♥♥♥♥ it. This game makes me feel like MK11 is deeper design.
