What layout do you use for modern controls on an 8 button stick?

just curious the thoughts here. i'm still using the default, and i've only just picked up my first modern character the other day (luke)

i feel like the placement of the strength buttons is throwing me off, but you also want really easy access to the assist button and special buttons

I don't. I decided to play modern for SF6 and it made me switch from snackbox back to keyboard because I needed a ninth button. People who don't use a throw macro are crazy, I'm not built like that. My layout is:
Light | Medium | Heavy | Drive Impact
H+Super | Special | Assist | L+M (throw)
Drive Parry (spacebar)

IMO what you want (for luke anyway) are easy access to assist+Medium and assist+special, so holding assist down with my third finger is the most ergonomic for that.
