Losing Streak (Cammy Main)
How do you shake off a losing streak? I don't mind losing to improve but I feel like i have lost my motivation sometimes.

Stop playing and take a 15 minute walk.

I mean, I've never stopped losing, I've won like 2 matches, total. Honestly, I'm not too affected, but when I feel like switching it up, I go to world tour and bash on some mobs. It's pretty satisfying going on a rush down loop to get some master XP and finish out fights in like 3 moves

edit: Is this why world tour is a thing? So that when you have the urge to smash things, you can just go into that and beat people up like crazy to vent? I didn't even think of that until just now.

edit 2: also you don't necessarily need to beat things up. You can go and play with outfits and try playing around in the avatar creation. I also like to do combo trials too, there is a nice "Zen" feeling of just doing a bunch of combos from start to finish and it gives kudos too.

Go outside and touch some grass, come back to the game when you feel calm and motivated. Then immediatly go and watch your replays. Since you detached yourself from that situation, it is now much easier to find out, why you kept losing. Take notes and improve on your most obvious findings.

As a fellow Cammy main I used to have the bad habit to always "punish" with CrMK>Spiral Arrow (my go to punish for sweeps in SF5). Not only is it in most cases not optimal, it also not always "punishes", leaving me there with minus 5000 frames after my opponent blocked. I did not even realize that while playing. I only noticed after reviewing my clowing a day later. :SF6_Delta_Cat:

I like that, I'm adding that to my quotes

just take a break if you feel like you're not having fun anymore or go play casually in the battlehub (not sure if you're talking about ranked in your topic). you'll naturally start improving the more you play in the battlehub and then you can go back to ranked with more confidence

Yeah just take a break, doesn't matter how long, could be a few minutes to a couple days or weeks. Your brain is gonna keep on churning through those situations in the back of your head trying to find the right solutions and you'll slowly develop a better understanding of the game even when you're not actively playing.

Take some time away. When you no longer feel raw, take some time to go over your replays, look for something that was giving you trouble, come up with a plan to do better, hit the training room if needed, then try to execute your plan.

If your plan works, celebrate that, even if you lose the match. It means you're improving.

Swap to another game and play pve content. During the summer sale I bought KoF and Soul Calibur 6 so I can play something else. Currently I am doing a second playthrough of SC6 and completing Steam achievements when not in SF6 mood.

My favourites are combo trials to practise execution...easily transferrable between 2D and 3D fighting games.

I was in that position when I started SF6, my winrate quickly dropped to < 30% and I was feeling the pain. Took a small break to clear my head, but more importantly I looked at videos of pros playing my character to copy more of what they do. i.e. what buttons they throw out, which combos they go for, oki setups, etc.

Oh, also just working on basics like consistently anti-airing with a crouching heavy or dp too. For some play sessions I made it my entire goal to land some anti-airs. I didn't even need to watch some of my early replays to know that I was letting people jump in on me for free.

Thank you for your advice people, I will take it to heart. :)

Watch replays.

More importantly, watch the replays of the people who beat you.

Better yet, look for replays where your opponent played against someone else who used your character. See how that person beat them and see where you did and didn't do things differently. Watching general matchups is cool, but by watching someone you specifically lost to and seeing how someone else beat them is going to be more relevant to your growth...it's how we did it back when arcades were around. If someone beat me, I'd hang around and see if they pulled the same gimmicks and watch how other people dealt with it.

Obviously keep the data on to see where they were plus and you got frame trapped.
