It does not. You have rubbed your skin and underlying muscles raw from use. I had this same problem for many many years and for a long time my answer was to just play other games and let my fingers rest. After a long time i learned to just be alot softer with my inputs so i could play for many days at a time before my fingers became sore again. The only true answer i have found is to switch to stick. Had a stick for 6 months with little to no hand pain. Wrist pain can get slightly annoying though. Wrist gets stiff and hurts a tiny bit sometimes.

I don't have any thumb pain with an Xbox Series X pad. I used to play on Dualshock pads which made my thumb really sore after long sessions. As a workaround you can put a piece of soft cloth (like maybe a t-shirt) over the dpad and then put your finger over it. It also helps with doing motion inputs a bit more smoothly.

Honestly, I don't think so. At least it didn't for me, so I switched to playing on keyboard.

I got a different controller. Some Dpads absolutely destroy my thumb because I slide my thumb instead of rolling it
i only use the D-pad for shimmy and Drive Rush.

As an elder, the pain goes away, because you build up calluses or maybe just get nerve damage idk, either way if you're looking to avoid it, I remember when I cut my thumb open at work and had a plaster on it. All glide no scrape.

It does not, I'm better using a keyboard with the arrow keys + num pad 4,5,6 for punches and 123 for kicks. The stick feels better but it can hurt your wrist too.

I have a 80% keyboard and use WASD for movement and then The insert, home, pgup for punches and delete, end, pgdn for kicks. It works really well actually
