Is it still possible to play coop?

I am trying to get coop working with some friends. I know gamespy has shut down, but we are trying to use Evolve to create LAN. We are running into issues getting that sorted out. Does anyone have any tips?

you can connect IP to IP. this still works for me and my friend.

You can use LogMeIn Hamachi to fake a local LAN network with your friends. You basically create a network and then invite your friends to join it. After that, they'll be able to see any local games you create. As far as online goes, it's tied directly to GameSpy Arcade, so it's dead and in the ground until Ubisoft decides to pay attention to their classic titles.

If you want to play, download GameRanger, sometimes about 10 players play, during the day you can create a server there or connect to them.

I've tried to play this with a friend. we both have Windows 10 and use Zero Tier One instead of Gameranger, but as soon as either of us connect to each to the other and get to choosing inventory, one or the other game will crash.

Back again. Friend has DVD copy and I own Steam version. Game crashes at weapon loadout screen. However, with an "alternative" version of the game, we are happily playing again. Think the Steam version is bugged when playing with other non-Steam versions, but can't verify.
