I see what you mean. I like doing that as well but I also personally think it adds a little to it's charm. Defeating bosses in order to gain new allies with new skills to help you out gave it a kinda mega man like feel to it which felt like a breath of fresh air from the regular RPG's I had played at the time.
Oh I have! I've only played the first game (not to completion cause I also suck at finishing things lmao) but I plan to revisit the whole series eventually once I've cleared my backlog a little more. Hopefully that's sooner rather than later
i like the combat system tho but i prefer more mature/darker than lighthearted/adolescence-like storytelling. demon gaze 2 is too much for me.
so out of all experience games, sosc is the only one who i can say i love it
yomi wo saku hana looks like on the darker side so hype!
I loved Demon Gaze 1 and i'm in the SAME boat as you, i never finished 2 cause it was just not fun for me, i hated the preset party where it turned into a harem and all the women characters were overall better than the men, half and half ok but it was ALL of them and as a gay man i didn't want a harem party. I got like 3/4ths of the way through and was just like, yeah this isn't fun and just stopped. God Demon Gaze 1 was SOOO good though.
DG1 is really good but honestly I really enjoyed DG2 just as much. It fixed a lot of my issues with the first DG and expanded on the battle system more which felt refreshing to me. And while not being able to make your own party members was a little sad having preset ones I don't think is a bad thing either as that gives them more personality and forces you to think on your feet a little more when making teams.
Tho I will admit it was kinda weird how they leaned a little to far into the harem genre and the amount of men they had was abysmal so I could see how you wouldn't enjoy it.
Still, despite that it's still one of my fav Dungeon Crawlers ever made and I really hope they make a 3rd one someday.
