le.IG.18 7.5cm Infantry Gun
In a US Skirmish I was attacked by what seemed to be a German le.IG.18 7.5cm Infantry Gun. I later knocked it out, and zoomed in to have a closer look. Instead of the usual model, it looked quite different. In fact, it looked just like one of these:

A 7.5 cm infanteriegeschütz 37, basically a new 7.5cm infantry gun barrel mounted on the old Pak 36 AT gun carriage. When used as an anti-tank weapon it could fire a hollow charge shell that could penetrate up to 85 mm of armour.

Unfortunately I forgot to take a screenshot, and after failing to find it in the German unit options, I am beginning to think I was imagining it!

Is it a new weapon? If so, how do you get it in Skirmish?

At a guess, buy a Fallschirmjäger platoon and look under the support options.
The 75mm le.!G.18 Infantry gun can be attached to most infantry platoons in the game, but the 37mm Pak 36 ATG can only be attached to Fallschirmjager platoons (as far as I know) like Cona1l said.
Here's a screenshot I took today of the Pak 36 (nearest camera) and the Infantry gun.

That's not what I saw.

It was the Pak 36 carriage for sure, the shield is very distinctive, but it had a barrel with the massive rectangular muzzle brake, just like the picture I posted in my first post above.

No, that has just a regular Pak36 3.7cm AT gun.

I am sure that what I saw was labelled as a le.IG.18 7.5cm Infantry Gun, but it looked just like a 7.5 cm infanteriegeschütz 37. The barrel was very distinctive with that big muzzle brake.

This picture shows the barrel of the 7.5 cm infanteriegeschütz 37 better:

What I saw was just like this.

Found one, "knocked out" is the vital clue..:)
I deployed several standard IG18's as sitting ducks and let the AI knock them out, and their graphic then changed to this below-

Perhaps Tom can get in here to explain the phenomenon when he gets back from the pub..:)

Well done Spike, that's the one.

So it didn't look like that before it was destroyed? That is very strange!

Correct, I placed 4 x IG18's on the map and was careful to zoom in on each one to look at their graphic, and all 4 were the standard short-barrelled 75m IGs18 graphic, then after they were destroyed I zoomed in again and their graphic had changed to this one-

The end Review screen listed the 4 x destroyed guns as 'IG18'.

PS- I thought at first the US DLC had introduced a new German gun, but no, I spent half an hour searching through the Skirmish purchase screens for all infantry types (Standard Infantry / Fallschirmjager, PG, SS, Vet, Pionier, Ostrruppen etc), but there were only the usual IG18's and ATG's available for attachment.
Also the pinned Units List contains no new German guns.

Its name is 'Infanteriegeschutz 42' and my reading is that it was primarily an AT gun with better AT capability than the IG18.
Its muzzle velocity kick was higher (hence the need for the muzzle brake) making its flatter trajectory more accurate than the IG18.
It fired a hollow-charge round (las did the IG18) but apparently never went into large scale production, I'm guessing that was possibly because its hollow-charge shell would have had a tough time hurting most Allied tanks of 1944-45, so high command decided to stick with standard AT guns.

PS- Anyway, the first IG42's were delivered in Oct 44, but the Troop scenario timeline has only reached 10 August 44 so far, so maybe Tom is holding it back til then, and is keeping its graphic on ice...:)

I think it is more likely to be the IG 37. Which took the barrel of the IG42, but used the Pak36 carriage. The IG42 used the carriage of the PAW 600 AT gun.

That page you referenced seems to have got it's photos mixed up. The top picture shows an IG37, the bottom picture is the IG42. Notice how the shield is very different from the Pak36 shield.

The IG37 was produced in greater numbers and was in use from June 1944.
TOM, TOM, we need you to clarify things..:)

Ah that is a bug and an error on my part... The IG 37 was tested but I was not happy with it so did not include. Somehow the model seems to have found its way into the destruction animation for the IG 18. I shall fix.

That's a shame Tom. What were you unhappy about?
