The region situation is dumb
Here i am super excited to exploit a new region for my city that lacks decent farming land only to realize the game wants you to start completely fresh and micro manage two independent cities instead of giving you the ability to at least create an outpost for resource extraction. This honestly feels poorly thought out, who in their right mind would want to micro multiple cities?

you can trade with your main city, the problem is, if you dend something, you need to bring back things at the same worth, and the game does it automatic.

yeah my thought was youd contest or expand your fiefdom but rather each region comes with its own manor house too? its a small gripe i have but i dunno nothin about medieval life.

Yep i tried that whole bartering thing and honestly cant be asked. I wish there was an option to fuse regions, i might as well start a new game if its just going to start me from scratch.

You don't need to develop your "colonies" as much as your main city. Basically I just develop them enough to be able to handle the ressource that interest me in the region (to export it in my main city) and be fully autonumus in term of food/cloth/log and after that they run by themselves.
No need to have tier 3 house or even tier 2 for most of them.

The only thing that struggled me for now is the system of trading between your region which is to inefficient. I hope it will be modified.

Regions being totally autonomous is annoying tbh. I get what they were going for but having your regions have nothing to do with each other (besides annoying and slow bartering) doesn’t make much sense. It shouldn’t be a totally separate town, it’s all mine

I am also not looking forward to expanding my territories in this situation. I'd like to see trade be automatic like the granary and storehouse. If one region has what another needs, the trading post or such will transport for free. Just some mechanism for unilateral trade so I can focus on my main settlement. I feel like I'd need the game to go slower to manage multiple full towns...

Ah, so it functions like Anno. I just have to figure out how tf to build into that land now and I'll be golden xD

100% agree

i agree with OP, stopped my expansion in it's tracks. i see no reason for myself to play
with current barter system. Just open it right up and let us transfer resources.

I gotta agree. This is an amazing game but if the progression involves having to manage multiple totally separate settlements without the ability to just extract resources for satellites I feel like I am not going to keep advancing in the game. RIP.

I can see the secondary settlements being setup just for funnelling resources back to your main town...

A small town of 5-10 Burgage plots can sustain itself on meat and berries, allowing you to then gather the specific resources you've placed the second town for, and then cart it back to your main town...

It's literally what I've been doing to get barley as I always seem to start in region with really poor barley production... Just trade barley for planks and the secondary town will have everything it needs...

You are forgetting something. ML is historically correct.

These resources belong to the population, not the Lord, why they would simply give these resources for free to other people, from another region?

However, when the other taxation options are implemented, the Lord may have his own reserve of resources, and then it would make sense for him to send these resources to another region for free. Which would be historically correct, since most taxes were paid in products and not in money.

With time perhaps we will have an option that allows us to use the king's favor or influence to unite two regions into one, which would also make a lot of sense historically.

Yeah, this I would like to see, too...

Yeah, love the game but many mechanics are dumb and idiotic... why barther if i only want to exploit ?
Scott Apr 30, 2024 @ 10:18am
I like the proposal above to fuse 2 regions together once you expand into it.
don't really fancy starting over again even if it's just to build a few houses/market
