yeah what sloth said, I found out the hard way that manor walls currently mess up the game - which I think is a bit annoying but it's nothing deal breaking. Dev will add city walls and defenses later. For now I'd put your manor in the direction you anticipate the most enemies will come from, or on a hill that you can bait enemies towards for the advantage + protection if you need to fall back for awhile.
Works well with the archer damage mod on Nexus, since then they can safely pick away at enemies from behind cover.
