Oxen Ploughing
On larger fields, the oxen plough is much less efficient than just having farmhouses full of families. It actually meant, by the time the single oxen had finished ploughing the field, it was already June and the crops didn't grow in time for harvest.

I think this might be related to the way oxen ploughing currently works, as they will plough a line one side of the field, then walk all the way over to the other side, then repeat back and forth until they stop in the middle of the field.

My suggestion would be: For oxen to plough a line one way, then move slightly over to the next line and plough in the opposite direction? Basically in a left to right or right to left ploughing method across the field.

this 100%. I actually divided my large fields into smaller ones and thats alot better and more efficient management far as i am concerned (for a 700+ pop)

In other words the way ploughing is normally done. That said, I've seen ox ploughs work together with farmers on the same field, but not always, so not sure if that was a one off bug or if the families to work together with the oxen on the same field.

From what I've seen, they will only work together if the families get to ploughing the field first, the ox will then finish it off.
