Chicken Coop and Animal Pen not producing

The Chicken Coop and Animal Pen upgrades to Burgage Plots either don't produce food or produce food so slowly that they are useless compared to Vegetable Gardens. I'm not sure how to tell 100% if it is a bug, but I keep watching my granary and I never see eggs or meat gather there.

If you just have one or two, you'll never see anything in the granary because it gets eaten too fast. Same with honey.

But man does not live by turnips along, so you need those additional food sources.

Toggle your resource display from surplus to actual, you should see them appear every so often then. Keep in mind 1 egg/month and 2 meat or 1 meat/1 hide every 150 days. So it may take some time before you see some meat if that is your only source.

The production rate of chicken coops is 1 unit of eggs per month.

The production rate of animal pens is 2 units of meat per 150 days (pigs) or 1 unit of meat & 1 unit of hides per 150 days (goat pens)

So yes, this is very slow and very little. They will only start to accumulate when used in large numbers, and when other food sources are added to the mix, such as honey, apples, vegetables, bread...
