Since king's tax increases with population, I think this is telling you that a population increase is pushing your king's tax up. The amount you will have to pay when king's tax comes due has increased.
I'm fine with the black screen. There's really nothing to show.
That's my guess anyway.
Yes, it's Early Access, but if something is implemented, there ought to be a tooltip/explanation for what's going on with it. I've spent hours perusing Youtube to discover stuff that I cannot fin explained within the game ;)
Besides this black screen, the UI needs some tender loving care IMO.
Okay so it's early days for me too, having bought the game yesterday, but I'm no stranger to colony management and I'm very familiar with what these games require. This one is very reminiscent of Ostriv. I can only hope that the Manor Lords dev commits themself to the same level of excellence.
