Esc menu not working

Randomly the Esc button stops working. I cant access the menu which means no loading or saving. Only thing to do is to pause the game and wait for the auto save and then Ctrl-Alt-Del out of the game, close it, then reload it. I have experienced this only after the update. Never ran into it before on any of the other patches.

People in the discord recommended using the quicksave but other than that we will have to wait for a hotfix or patch.

Look for updated drivers for your keyboard.
(I run a Logitech G110 keyboard, so for me it's the Logitech gaming software.)

Also insure that you have clicked out of any option within the game that does something.

I also have the same issue, along with right click(cancel) stopping for some reason.. maybe related.

Same for me. Right button (cancel) stops working sometimes, ESC not working either (the two always come together). It is possible to continue, wait for an autosave and then kill the game as only option to get out.

Since it happens sometimes, especially if playing the game for an extended time, I don't think it is a driver issue. Don't wait for autosave. Hit F5 for quicksave and then alt-tab-stop out of the game. Way faster.

Interesting, I didn't run into this yesterday (first time playing), but have run into it multiple times today where either right-click doesn't work right and ESC doesn't bring up the menu anymore. Fingers crossed quicksave doesn't overwrite things...

Quicksave only over writes quicksave.file, not autosave or any other regular saves. And yes the right-click malarkey is all a part of the same bug as I can tell.

A strange bug indeed, maybe drivers/ Do you use laptops or PC's ? .. just trying to pinpoint the issue.

I use PC and the first two things I did was check update drivers (no joy), and verify game files (everything fine). Something to take into account is that the bug only occurs after a set amount of time. I have no idea as to the trigger. My hunch is it could be the autosave function is somehow breaking the game. BUT I'm a noob when it comes to code so I will leave that hunt to more EXP LVL UP minds. Please post any findings here or in the discord.

As a test,
- check that when your attempting to use the ESC function the game is on it's default game speed of normal and not running higher or max speed.

- many of the functions for the game "revert" back to default nearly instantly at any speed other that normal,
- say an open info window and a selection in the advanced option will drop back to the 1st window before a player can select any setting in that advanced window.
(timed out at that fast speed)

same happened for me too after playing the game for really long time. i think i have like 55 hours in this game and it have happened just once so far. F5 quicksave and restart fixed the issue.

After built the manor, the bug happens after 5 minutes playing the game. Making it basically unplayable. Right click and esc stop working for me.

This just started happening today for me. Like others, the escape button and the right click both seemed to give out at the same time. It happened after I put the game on pause (by using the Esc menu) for an extended period of time (may be 5 mins?) I say "extended" because I usually only do this for about 10 secs in typical gameplay. This is my first occurrence, so I haven't been able to test this assumption yet.

It would be nice to have a way to get to the Esc menu by some means other than hitting ESC.
