Cannot customize Coat of Arms

I just purchased the game, and it was crashing on startup (older Nvidia card). Got that fixed by editing the settings file, but when starting my first game, I cannot change the Coat of Arms. If I click on any of the options (colors, layouts, symbols, etc.), the display reacts, but the coat of arms remains solidly black.

Obviously this doesn't stop me from playing, but I am wondering if this is a hint that I may encounter other issues down the road. My GPU _is_ very old - should I just get a refund while I am still within the return window, and come back later?

Have you tried turning down the setting and test that.?
I would also do a game file verification through steam, just to make sure an element is not corrupted.

Well, it seems like I cannot see any of the crop fertility overlays either. Although water shows up, the entire map (in two different new games) is red for all of the grains. I assume it's not supposed to be that way everywhere?

My guess is that something in the overlay processing isn't working with my video card, hence the lack of coat of arms info and fertility info. I had a similar problem on Baldur's Gate 3, where the minimap was solid black. I got a refund on that one....

Yes, very old video cards may not have the updated image types capability that newer cards can access.
- You vid drivers up to date? (still supported?)

As up to date as that card can take! It's just very old (was top of the line in its day). I guess it's time for a new rig overall. Thanks for your feedback!
