Correct me if im wrong. Are we getting more than 1 AI lord on the map i thought it was strictly a 1v1 lord map and would only have the one map available which has a degree of rng on it? I didnt see this as a game that had a selection of maps to choose from, let alone a game with more than one AI lord and ourselves. Plus the parcels we recieve are square shape so that puts the kaibosh on the europe idea.
The game seems a bit big on the simulation. So many villagers and such. I doubt the game can handle so many cities with so many people. I assumed there was only going to be one, MAYBE 3-4 lords per map.
It was said that the map we've seen in the demo isnt the final map. But judging from it, its a little small to accomodate Europe. Plus i doubt there would be more than 1-4 lords on a map. Ill be surprised if this turns out to have selectable maps with up to 8 lords on some maps.
Personally though the dev said he will make mods possible. I take it with a grain of salt. There are a select few truly moddable games such as Elderscrolls, Fallout, Rimworld, Kenshi, Starbound, ect. Games where with mods, anything is possible.
On the other side there are moddable games that arent really that moddable. Where the idea of "workshop support" is strictly maps, logos, soundtrack replacers.
Realistically what mod would i like? A mod that will expand the list of available logos/ "shield partition shapes" in game so a greater degree of freedom is available for customizing your lord's flag.
If the sky was the limit what kind of mod would i like?
Id love a sort of "kingdoms" mod. The game might be big. So in the mid-late game id love to automate some things so i can snowball.
Id like to sponsor an underling and promote them to "village mayor" to create a satillite village for my town that would provide my town with basic goods like hides and crops while my town focuses on trade/ maximizing population for military output. Removing my farms so i can grow my town bigger.
I send a few basic resources to get him started and he sets up a village and runs it without my involvement. The limit of my involvement being sending resources and military aid in exchange for all the basic things ill need for trade and refinement.
The map in the demo is not in the game anymore, and was around 2 km square, and the initial map we get in EA is going to be a different map of about the same size, so yeah, its a tiny bit smaller than all of Europe.
But the bigger thing that makes the whole idea of a Europe map stupid, is that there is literally no point to it. The game only has assets to fit that specific region that the game is inspired by, so putting that same architecture, armor, weapons, into a different place, will make no sense whatsoever.
The game will have mod support after 1.0, so after the Early Access stage is done.
-LotR
-Fantasy with magic and sh*t
Just to name some that might be made.
A Scotland map with Scottish architecture too. Ever since I played AoE2, that region has been a favourite of mine for medieval games.
Something that could enhance the variety or change the entire timeframe like changing it to ancient era or napoleonic era. Going to different cultures or fantasy like LotR, Warhammer, Warcraft etc. although not all are properly suitable judging from the indifferences of friend and foe aside from colours and banners.
