Can't upgrade to level 3 burgage
I have spent hours trying every solution I can find on the web to this problem. Nothing I do lets me upgrade to level 3 burgage. If I can't find a fix I am going to quit the game. What exactly is required to do this upgrade? I have had massive food stores and a tavern full of ale. Church is level 2, water access is there. Please help.

Need more info... Share a screenshot of plot you're trying to upgrade, including the tooltip when you hover over the upgrade button, as it should indicate what the problem is...

Chances are you're out of tiles, or some other construction material...

Per burgage plot you want to upgrade you need:
25 regional wealth, 4 logs of timber, 8 planks and 4 rooftiles

so maybe you're lacking one of those resources?

You also need to have a tavern running and serving a steady stream of ale. Which is made of barley from a farm (or imported via the trading post), which is made into malt at the malthouse and then turned into ale in a brewery (burgage plot extension level 2). Do you have this whole economy running?

Also, you can only upgrade if ALL needs of that plot are met.
Sometimes, plots are lacking of firewood or food-variety for ...... reasons.
Even if you have enough of everything in storage. Don't know.

Yes, ALL of the little tan-colored diamond shaped tick boxes in the burgage plot UI need to be tan-colored, not black, AND you have to have all resources available to upgrade the house.

I have checked all of that. All of the diamond shaped tick boxes are tan, I have all of the wealth and other materials and I have a barley farm, malt house and tavern. I filled the tavern with ale. Still won't let me upgrade. I have lots of food variety (berries, vegetables, eggs, bread), but do have trouble keeping meat on hand.

each one of those diamond check boxes represent how many of each thing you need. for level 3, the house needs access to 3 different types of food, tavern with available ale, a level 2 church, water, 2 different clothing options, and firewood. the ale is what usually gets me as you can never keep any in stock no matter how many breweries you have or how much barley your produce so what I do is hold all my ale in the granary until i want to upgrade to lvl 3, i add a worker to the tavern until they grab 1 shipment. pause the game, upgrade your houses, and then immediately remove the worker from the tavern. This way you only use 1-2 ales for upgrading

As I said originally, share some screenshots, with the upgrade tooltip visible, so that others can see what the issue might be...

You just saying "everything's fine" is not helpful, as some condition is clearly not being met...

I wish I was adept at the whole screenshot thing. Alas I am not. I will see if I can figure that out. I guess my word is no good here. I can clearly see that all of the check boxes are checked, I can clearly see that I have 4 types of food, 2 clothing options, a level 2 church, firewood up the ying yang and a tavern full of ale. Still can't upgrade.

Your word is, of course, respected... but you are asking for help, and the issue you are reporting has never occurred before, so we must assume that we are missing some crucial information from you that you either forgot or simply didn't mention yet.

I only know of one reason that could cause your dilemma, and that would be that you are lacking in construction materials or regional wealth that are both needed to upgrade your houses.

So, please allow me to ask again:

1. Do you have rooftiles? How many?

2, Do you have timber logs? How many?

3. Do you have wooden planks? How many?

4. Do you have regional wealth? How much?

You will see all construction materials needed for the upgrade when hovering your mouse cursor directly on the greyed out icon in the burgage plot UI that you would want to click for upgrading.

Version? Beta? Mods? Any mods ever? Trying to load a pre-0.7.975 save into a post-0.7.975 updated game?

Thanks for your help, I really am at the end of my rope. I researched this issue online before coming here and followed the advice of people who had the same problem I am having. That is how I managed to deal with the need to have lots of ale in my tavern. I have over 100 roof tiles. over 100 planks, regional wealth over 500. Timber logs vary but generally over 30. I'm not sure what version I am playing, but my daughter just bought me the game a few weeks ago so I assume the latest version and no old saves. No mods at all.

I mustz admit, I'm stumped. If all the needs of your burgage plot inhabitants are fulfilled, AND you have all the resources needed to upgrade the burgage plot, then the "upgrade to level 3" icon in the house's UI should be white, and you should be able to click it and thus command the burgage plot to be upgraded.

If it is instead grey, then usually you'd be provided with the information on WHY it is grey and not clickable when hovering your cursor over it. A tooltip should spawn and tell you what you're lacking. Either "needs not met" or one resource that you are lacking marked in red numbers.

I have no idea why you'd be unable to upgrade your houses, sorry... can only assume that this is a gamebreaking bug in your savegame, now... never heard of it before, either.

Greetings,

There was one occasion I ran into where a single plot could not be upgraded to level 3.
- The plot size was too small, it was on a small corner of an intersection and would just not allow the lager construction to be done.
- It had not been expanded to a double house plot, no room.

- Is the plot size suitable for a larger expansion?

Also look at the bottom of the plot window and see if any of the items are coloured red. For materials needed to upgrade.
And hold the tab key to look at that plot and see if that view shows any missing or unfilled needs.

Upgrade the plot to level 3, you'll need to meet the following requirements:

- Water Access.
- Tavern.
- Church Level 2.
- Fuel Stall Supply.
- Food Stall Supply 3.
- Clothing Stall Supply 2.

25 Regional Wealth,
8 Planks,
4 Timber, and
4 Rooftiles to Upgrade the Burgage Plot.

Yes the plot size is large enough. In fact, I can't upgrade any of my level 2 plots to level 3. I guess it is a bug of some kind, I had hoped that there was something I had missed but doesn't looked like it. Thankyou everyone for your help.

Well, it must have been a bug. I got so frustrated I saved my game and quit. Went back to look at the problem to see if looking at it while fresh helped. Lo and behold, when I loaded the game everything worked as it should. Thanks again for spending time trying to help me. I really appreciate it.
