How to mine far away?
I know there are tip videos - I like to figure things out by playing.
However, that said, how do you deal with a stone mine that's 4 times further away than everything else and takes forever for villagers to walk there?

Do you build a house near the stone mine? A storage?
If I build a house, they won't have much food.
If I build a storage, it will still take a lot of time to haul it back to the main area?

Stone mines quickly and the building has its own storage so I tend to just let the people walk and trust the warehouse cart people to gather it.
Were it a renewable resource like a pond I'd put a house next to it and add say a chicken coop to supplement their food.

I just build a stonecutter near my storehouse and let him walk the distance to the stone deposit. For me, it is more important that the storehouse workers do not have to travel huge distances. Same with berry deposits. If they are near the edge of the map, I don't bother building forager huts right next to them. I rather build them next to my granary. The amount of berries they gather will be much less, but I'd rather not have them right in the path of a raiding party.

Don't build storage near the mine.

Use the storage closest to the manufacturing buildings that are going to be using the ore. That way you make the most benefit from the warehouse workers carts.

Never had problems with building the stonecutter right next to the deposit.
Stone is simply stored at my first Warehouse, so at the town-center.
A regular Stone-Deposit has what? 200 Stone?
Fits in easiely.
And the deposit is done quickly, so no need to build a house nearby.
