I had 4 hides in the storehouse and a completed tannery. So I put a family in the tannery and left it set so they could create a market stall.
And create a market stall they did, bless their hearts. And in that stall, they sold 4 leather and 10 yarn.
I was able to level up a few burgages to level 2.
1 of them blocks any clothing related items, and the other blocks any fuel related items.
So I figured I would just import a few Yarn and let the storehouse sell it.
But no, they made it obvious that they do not do yarn. Not in their job description.
I had the tanner already built, but with only 4 hides, I had not put anyone in it.
Did I mention that I only had 4 hides because I was doing the Merchant achievement -- Get to a "small town" settlement level without hunting or gathering berries. So no hunting means no hides. I had 4 burgages with goat pens, but those are s-o v-e-r-y s-l-o-o-o-w that they had only given me one batch of hides.
I was then pleasantly surprised to find that the tanner also sold yarn in his market stall.
That Merchant achievement is interesting. No hides for easy leather, and you have to scramble for food. Fortunately, I had a pond, so my people lived on fish for the first year, then fish and vegetables, and now, finally, the Merchantville bakeries are coming on line.
