Easy grand campaign idea and free play setup for Manor Lords!
I wasn't able to find any info about the complete path for the future, but though I'd give some thoughts about a potential campaign route and free play that would work well for this game.

For a "peaceful" campaign I'd like to see something like strategic map with a grid (for example 3x3) of maps like the current EAccess map (lets call the early access map a "province"). The instructions of the first campaign level could be to build 3 settlements on a province... with victory conditions that these settlements have X number of families, X percent happines and X months of supply of goods. When all of these goals are filled we can complete the mission and move on to the next to settle our second province, with each getting more difficult. For the final mission we could be requested to build a grand city and can use any previous neighboring provinces we settled for discount trade options to help support the grand city. This is the gist of a more peaceful campaign and along the way we can be given quest assignments by our king/leader to earn influence points or money. "Please sends x goods" or "Please provide for a light archery unit for x months".

For a standard or military type campaign route we have enemies or friendly competitors in our strategic map. Similar goals, but now we need to build armies along the way. After we build our first settlements in a province and complete the mission we then move to claim another "province" (map) in the grid after the first round. If no one else claims the province it is ours, but If 2 competitors make the same claim then they can bid or fight for it by sending their units in to battle for the map with the winner getting settle the province/map at turn level 2 and the loser being stuck in the original province losing support from his leader and will be very weakened b/c of it. With multiple regions/provinces we will now have the ability to call our previously created units into battle from our previous provinces... they can be used to defend our territory (similar to the way mercenaries work)... OR we send them out to attack our neighboring enemy provinces. We will have a supply wagon unit that must be created with our excess goods to resupply our attacking units which would limit our attack time (more troops=more supplies needed) in enemy provinces... With the current state of the game this could be very achievable and would allow us to expand our empire across a broader region and map and go after enemy territories!! The only thing not available at this moment is AI or enemy cities/castles that could be attacked. This would be awesome IMO.

Those are some basic ideas that might work for a campaign. With this structure the strategic map/grid could really become massive and wouldn't be hard on your computer! (You could have 5x5 5x10 10x10 or whatever, obviously). Neighboring maps and region wouldn't have to be connected (perfect border matches) either... this concept could really OPEN the door for the game, and all but the enemy cities could be created in its current state! Just my thoughts hope they are interesting.

-Lastly I wanted to mention that a freeplay would be basically the same, just with no leader to gain influence from so instead you would gain favor through trade and helping neighbor provinces solve problems (like the bandits). You are the king and you conquer the big map and the enemies on it.
