How do burgage plot extensions work?

  • Avoid farming initially, as it’s a massive undertaking. Rely on hunting/gathering and burgage plot extensions (Vegetable Plots, Chicken Coops) to sustain your town. Note fertile areas for later use.
I saw this in the pinned thread. Burgage plot extension? When? How? What? What is that? It doesn't say anything in the game help section and there is no option in the burgage plot to add an "extension". Everybody else seems to know what it is but I see no instructions anywhere on what they are or how to make them.

Everyone's in on the joke except me. Ok, I give up. What is a "burgage plot extension" how do you build it and how does it work?

I've found that farming isn't so difficult to do at the start with double resources. After planting in spring, you can reassign your farmers to do other things, and bring them back in for harvesting and threshing in October -again, temporarily. My farmers are also millers and bakers for example, just like my foresters are also loggers in winter time (when they would otherwise be idle).

When you build a burgage plot or set of plots, the size will show a back yard as you make bigger ones. Some backyard extensions require bigger back yards, and some just need tiny ones.

Look at some You Tube videos of manor lords and you will learn the size, shape etc..
