you watch too many "is it worth in 2025" youtube videos.
It has nothing to do with the current year, the game keeps getting better, probably in 2026 it's going to be even better. The problem is that at this rate we will see the 1,0 in 5 or so years.
Short answer: no. not enough content.
Just for laughs, I challenge anyone to list the game breaking bugs in "The Sims 3". Fully released with a king's ransom in DLC the Studio went on to release TS4 + double the quantity of overpriced DLC and are now working on TS5. The motto here:- Ignore the bugs and shortcomings, release and be damned then move on to the next incarnation ad infinitum.
As for:-
Of course you aren't ***** as you so delicately put it. If you don't have iron, you can see that you don't have iron before you lay a single inch of road or place a single shack. Re-roll the dice, it is no big deal your presets remain unchanged. I prefer berries to fish (would like both) but as you can have either one or the other I re-roll until I have what I prefer.
Edit:- The absolute game bugbear for me is the free road layout without any background grid to aid plot size definition and the fact that you can lay a road but when you try to build a row of plots the "snap to road" fails to snap where you need it to and you have to remove the road and build again along a slightly different trajectory or make do with wonky plots and wasted space all over the place. Very, very annoying especially if you forgot to save before trying to add more plots. Maybe it is that I just don't get the free style method, it is certainly why I "junked" two well known (AAA) Zoo and Theme Park games. The idea of "wonky" is just fine, but, not if roads don't connect properly and there is no way to plan for properly fitting plots/exhibits/rides. I get impatient with "suck it and see".
whether it is worth your time, you decide.
I enjoy building large towns and walking around in it. I enjoy seeing the people moving and developing the world around them.
This game provides plenty of replayability just like many other creative games. The game is a small challenge to figure out but I mean small. I restated several times to get the flow of my city right. Perfecting the process has been has been fun. The game is nice as it is and I will be happy to get more.
Go look at the examples of cities to see what the game is capable of. I have not regretted it.
