I have thought about having a town around the lake/pond area. It's cool to see it in practice.
I think I would keep the plots at level 2 just for the sake of being quaint. lol.

Start just by building the manor. Then build around it with normal buildings. Then build the walls.
You can build the walls within the manor planner; however, if you delete the towers that allow you to widen the range of the manor after you build the walls (but before you hit commit) then you can delete the towers and just be left with the walls.
