The new Hills, cliffs map is about right for the types of terrain in the location the game is modeled for. Franconia, or more Bavaria with many valleys and winding terrain following the hills.
You are correct in that it is a bit too small for any larger development with only 3 or 4 Regions.
- But the object is to build a village up to the large Town size. And that's not that many structures to get to that level.
What could be "added" to this map is the ability to construct on more steeper land, as was common in this area, (historically).
- Or perhaps widen the area between the cliffs, just a bit more.
(it was common for villages in this time to be about 5 Km apart, actually some still exist from this time period. And can still be seen in Germany)
- What I see missing on that map is any river or water feature that would be common between these land masses. (?)
Thankfully, we are in the Beta test version of these maps, so we are testing and providing feedback to the Developer about just these concerns.
- The River map also has some "issues" with the rivers and Bridges.
- Some units or elements not recognising the River as a structure, some units not able to cross the bridges.
So, great to see new maps, but some additional "tweaking" still needed.
