Fur from goats and pigs problem.
It seems to be, that after paying either "pig upgrade" or "goat upgrade" I don't get fur from them. Am I only one with this bug? Or this is not bug and I am missing something?

Pigstys don't give hides. Goat sheds give hides, but only small amounts and only every 5 months. Have you taken that into account?

To expand on that -- Pigs give 2 meat every 5 months, and goats give 1 meat and 1 hide every 5 months,

If goats are your only source of hides (for example, if you are trying to get the Merchant achievement, which doesn't let you use hunters), you will probably need to import some hides.

So -- Not a bug.

Huh, well I tried to compensate the low income of fur from too small deer herd with goats. And I will be honest, I didn't take the fact "1 meat and 1 hide per 5 months" into account, in fact I don't even know, how to manage to spot and check it if it's bug or normally working without completely neglecting other parts of the game.

It's slow but it works. I normally add about 6 homes with goats. When there are times I am not employing hunters I still increase my leather stockpile so I know the passive hides are working.

Ok, I looked at it, and yes, it works as it's supposed to be, but it's really slow.

It's basically villagers raising a few pigs in their backyard. You're not going to have a commercial-sized massive meat & hide factory pumping them out...

It's used as a supplement to your Hunters.

Technical detail, I am not saying, that it shouldn't be this way in this semiclose to reality medieval strategy game. I just had urge to say, that it's slow.

Fair enough - everyone is entitled to their opinion... BUT... look at it this way:
- animals need to age a bit after they're born, before they're considered for slaughter

I'm not trying to be obnoxious about this, but I don't know what the issue is with 5 months to get some meat from animals you're raising in your backyard.

Anyway. It is what it is.
Merry Christmas.

Look, I just had hard time with this problem, so I was little bit frustrated. After beating this problem and some thinking about it, I recognize, that it works, how it should work. It makes sense. Well now I know, how to aproach in province with small deer herd.

Anyway, Merry Christmas too.

If you need large amounts of meat in a town with a small deer herd, consider sheep breeding and butchering. At around 150 sheep and 100 lambs a butcher gets a steady supply of animals for slaughter. You only need to buy 20 or so adult sheep, and once you have breeding developed, they will multiply on their own, you just have to provide enough pasture space for the anticipated 250 animals.

That's also a good way to get a surplus of meat in a region where you're also farming for bread, since you don't need the "Hunting Grounds" policy, nor the "Trapping" and "Advanced Skinning" developments with this method in order to produce good amounts of meat.
