Unreal 5 Performance
Do I remember correctly that this game switched engines a while ago? Cause it sued to run super well and look amazing, and now I have to go down to medium or whatever, making the game look SIGNIFICANTLY worse, in order to eek out like 40 FPS.

Greetings,

Yes, The Developer needed to update the Unreal Engine from 4 to 5.4/5.5

- Microsoft and other platforms no longer supported the old Ue4 engine.
- The Engine designer "Epic" also no longer supported that engine, so if any problems arose with the game "engine wise" there would have been NO support.

The new engine does have many new features, some much better than the old engine.
- Most or some of these applications are much more efficient than the earlier engine, using less resources from the system to give better performance.
- The Developer has not "enabled" everything that this new engine could offer, some applications were not seen as efficient for the game for what they cost in system use.

This new Engine does have an updated system requirement from the earlier ue4 version.

The Developer did not have a choice for the upgrade of engines, as Valve (steam), Microsoft, and others would no long allow new games on there systems using the old engine.

I see. Thats a shame, before the upgrade the game was one of the best-looking I have EVER played, especially the nature. Now its... distinctly not, anymore. And runs much worse.

Not on my computer. And that is a 2 year old mid range gaming rig with a 3070 RTX. Nothing fancy at all.
I have an relatively old computer (i5-4690K :D and a GTX 1080TI). I get 60 FPS at maximum graphics but some things don't seem right. Shadows plopping in and out of existence, weirdly shaped shadows etc.
