Manor Lords Microsoft Visual c++ runtime error
Dear Manor Lords friends,

I am trying to play the game via CrossOver on my MacBook Pro M3 Max. I only joined Steam to play this particular game. Now after 2 hours of research and diverse tryouts of installing Microsoft Visual c++, the game still has the audacity to tell me the same "The following component(s) are required to run this program: Microsoft Visual C++". Can anyone help me?

Thanks!

Greetings,

You'll need to install those C++ elements as an Admin level.

There are both X86 32 bit systems, and X64 64 bit systems installs.
- On a windows system there are at least 19 different installs.

See this thread for what they are and where to get the correct installs;

The X64 install also installs the ARM64 components as they will be needed.

The C++ elements are required to Run the Unreal Engine 5.4/5.5 as some of the engine code uses that language.

Dear 9erRed,

thank you very much for taking your time to answer me. I am currently trying to become an Admin for this game following the instructions of this youtube video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I4uEiNOwbfE

The only problem is that when I right click on the games exe it doesn't show the compatibility tab. It only shows the general tab.

Thank you!

Greetings,

On a right click of a program exe, there should be a list of options.
- don't just use the "properties", for that tab selections.

On a right click the top selection should be "open" followed by "run as Administrator"
(on a windows system)

Should look something like this, (random grab from net)
https://static1.howtogeekimages.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/right_click_desktop_shortcut.png

The run as admin should have a small shield next to it.
- that example it's third down.

Not familiar with mac systems, but not having any other options sounds like your not actually "logged in" as a system admin. But only as a User.
(without any upgraded privileges)

Note here:
Using an admin authorised account requires the user to be VERY careful in just what your doing with the system. As a normal User the system will prevent you from being allowed to change, alter, modify it.
- But allowing some applications or programs that authority can allow them to operate correctly, as it allows the program to save, or change items within the system folders. (normally hidden from a user)

reference search: (Mac admin authority)

Open System Preferences.
Click on Users & Groups.
Click on the user profile that you would like to make admin.
Click on the lock in the bottom-left corner of the window and enter admin credentials to allow changes. (admin password if set up)
Check the box called: Allow user to administer this computer
Click the lock again to prevent any further changes.
The change should take effect after restarting the computer. You will notice in the Users & Groups menu, the title under their name should change from "Standard" to "Admin."

Good evening,

thank you for your help! Much apprecitated. :steamhappy:

I have found out that it is not possible for Mac users to "Run as Administrator":

https://steamcommunity.com/discussions/forum/2/618458030674703728/

I am not sure how CrossOver works, but I have installed these Visual C++ thingies into the "bottle" where Minor Lords and Steam is laying in.

Here is the list:

Microsoft Visual C++ 6.0 Redistributable
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 (8.0) Redistributabl...
Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 (8.0) Redistributable
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 (9.0) Redistributable
Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 (9.0) Redistributabl...
Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 (10.0) Redistributa...
Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 (11.0) Redistributab...
Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 (12.0) Redistributa...
Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 (12.0) Redistributa...
Visual C++ 2015-2022 (32-bit)
Visual C++ 2015-2022 (64-bit)

I have also switched on the D3DMetal and MSync toggle. Maybe I just miss one more Visual C++ thing?

Otherwise I don't know what to do else. I started this whole thing just because I watched this video on youtube:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Um6EsxPX0Ng&t=1s

But unlike (min 04:12 - 04:19) it doesn't give me the option to press yes it just gives me the notification and I can only press "ok".

Anyways I'm already grateful for the help so far.

Thanks!

I'm not a Mac user either so I'm probably way off the mark here but my knowledge of the Windows OS leads me to wonder what, if anything, Whiskey has to say about User permissions and privileges and/or Folder permissions and privileges, especially with regard to writes.
now works good with Crossover Preview
Same Issue, I wish this game was released for macOS too :(
