When raiders appear on the edge of the map, the game gives you a warning. You can then pause the game and have all the time in the world to hire mercenaries, if you have the funds to do it. You might even find a band of mercenaries who spawn at the very same edge of the map as the brigands, which makes them perfect at intercepting those raiders before they even get to your settlement.
When the baron lays claim to your territory, you are also warned with a banner and a countdown progress bar that takes quite some time until you actually need to counter the claim. Plenty of time to assemble your troops and call in some mercenaries as well.
That, at least, has been my experience so far. That's why I'm asking. No offense meant.
If the Barons message he wanted your Region and you could contest was missed, you may have been on an advanced time play. at the fast speed it will be gone in seconds.
this special "possibly" game ending message really needs to be constant and time reset to normal. Only removed when the player clicks on it. (for the reply and action)
- But there's the top centre message board that will show a RED indication of "attention" needed.
