Have you assigned workers to the trading post?
- Did you assign a horse for the trader to move materials?
(adds horse and cart for more materials moved at one time.)
- Have you stated an amount to sell and what to keep?
Watch the market value to insure your not saturating the market with tiles.
Got the same problem, so i'll answer.
Having horses at the trading post should not have any effect on the travelling merchant, they are only for your own merchants. But yes, i do - 4 of them.
I obviously also have people working there (4 as well), otherwise there wouldn't be any items for the travelling merchant to take.
The selling limits are set, and the items in the trading post are well above those limits. But still, the travelling merchant will most of the time only take 5 items at a time, instead of all of them, like it was in the previous build. Sometimes he does indeed take a lot at once, but not often.
Also i'm pretty sure market saturation is no longer a thing in the current build.
This youtuber is a known playtester and usually very good at figuring out how game mechanics work, even if those mechanics are very hard to read and not well explained at all, as is the case in manor lords.
This video is a lengthy one, but I find it very good at explaining how trade posts work and how they don't.
To answer your questions 9erRed:
1. Yes I have workers assigned to the trading post. I have tried one family, and also two families, it did not make a difference.
2. No I do not have a horse assigned. I did not have a horse in my two previous play throughs and in those instances the travelling merchant was taking 40 to 50 roof tiles each visit so I was making a lot of money.
It is just this play through that he is only taking small amounts now, like 4 or 5 tiles.
3. Yes I have set my desired surplus - desired surplus is 20, current surplus is 150, so I am trying to shift most of them.
Thanks Jabber, I will definitely check this video out.
I don't think so Clovis, as my trading post consistently has 50+ tiles sitting there in stock.
And it is a major trade route so the merchant is dedicated to the tiles.
This is the exact same for me Semagicus, my previous two builds he was taking 40 to 50 each time.
Now he only takes that many twice times in a year, I was tracking this in the trade log.
I am currently broke as I am not exporting anything else lol.
Just started manufacturing wood pieces last night to export those.
I have quite a big leather surplus but to establish that as a trade route is very expensive and I can't even afford that right now.
You can check it clicking on the eyeball next to the trade route when a trade transaction posts, which will show you where the itinerant trader is.
The horse is absolutely 100% required and always has been.
