Deminishing returns from wild berry forrest?
I had a wild berry deposit of 256 (after doubling capacity).

Some of my loggers cut some berry trees down (I got the notification) but after I moving them and designating a different area they stopped cutting them down. At the time I didn't see the maximum yield go smaller so I thought it I was fine. I planted some trees there with the foresters hoping that maybe it would undue any damage (not sure the game works that way).

Now I put 4 families on foraging to make sure to get the maximum yield and I do always decrease it to zero.

From what I understand, it's not like the animals, where you can exhaust the deposit.

So how come it's down from 256 to 240 now. But not immediately but only when I check back way later.

Did they actually cut down my maximum yield and the game notified me but didn't recalculate at the time?
Did the planting foresters destroy the wild berry bushes?
Does foraging to zero cause diminishing returns (like farming yield)?

This happened to me once. Shaving too close to the berries. They were gone forever.

This is cheesy but it works -- Build a pasture around your berry plants. If you do that, your loggers and firewood cutters won't bother the berries. And you can even let sheep graze there.

It's probably just a matter of time until this little exploit is closed, but until then, have at it (if you don't mind the faint odour of cheese.)

I would have expected the pasture to destroy the berry bushes.

Reminds me a bit if the Medieval Totalwar Exploit of building a fort on top of your market nodes so that only your merchants can trade in them and cannot be attacked whilst doing so.

In the Guides section theres one titled-

'How Market Supply and Demand Works' that seems to be very popular.
It offers this little tidbit...

"Bonus Tips
1) You can upgrade 2 burgages to tier 2 just to meet the requirement for the development point, then pick the Better Deals development and destroy those burgages immediately. That will give you access to everything you need via trade without increasing the happiness needs. This is the most important development selection you can make if you don't have fertile land or rich iron and need to import."

Apparently, many players dont mind using cheesy exploits, especially seeing the amount of accolades it been awarded.
Its like cheating at Solitaire.

I do almost the same thing except i use a road to encircle the berries and the Advanced Work button to instruct Loggers to only cut to that road.
