Here is an official Intel post about it: https://community.intel.com/t5/Processors/July-2024-Update-on-Instability-Reports-on-Intel-Core-13th-and/m-p/1617113
Get an RMA, if this error already shows up, your CPU is already damaged beyond saving. Intel will provide a replacement.
[EDIT:] Some further background information, because often people have a difficult time accepting their components are on their way out.
This specific error message is known to happen on Unreal Engine 5. The game was just updated to that version with the last beta patch.
While the error message indicates an issue with the graphics card, it is really caused by the processor. If I recall correctly, it is caused by the ring bus being damaged, which connects the different parts of the CPU, and also the CPU with the rest of the system.
The error causes the GPU driver to fail.
The issue has caused a lot of headache for game developers, and probably NVIDIA alike, because it indicates an issue with either the GPU, or the game code. The issue has also been known for around a year now.
Intel knew about it for a long time, but kept quite about it, until it got a lot of attention recently, and they couldn't hide it anymore.
Intel also finally did the right thing and extended the warranty of those CPUs to 5 years and claims to replace all affected units.
They also published a microcode update (via a Bios update for your mainboard) that fixes the cause of the issue. You should definitely get that, or otherwise your next CPU will be toast as well after a while.
You should also definitely stick to the Intel defaults after loading that new bios, as it was shown that deactivating it, overrides the newly implemented security measures.
So my advice would be to read into the topic carefully for your mainboard, even if it is annoying.
The most important thing, however, is that you get your CPU replaced!
Even with the above patches applied, your current CPU is still toast and you will only see more issues pop up in the future.
Consider yourself lucky that you get this specific error message, because it is a very clear indicator of what the issue is.
I'm not a hardware guy. I just drive 'em. I don't know what makes them go, How do I know if I have one of those 13/14th gen Intel CPU things?
And if I have one, is Intel going to pay someone to install it for me?
Or would I have to have to ship this ♥♥♥♥♥♥ off somewhere and be without it for six weeks?
I have not opted into this beta, and after reading this, I think I will hold off for a bit.
I've sent about a dozen off to intel in the last two months, they were all replaced in 7-10 days. But it depends on what type of CPU you bought, if boxed, just send it to Intel and they'll replace it, if tray (intended for OEMs, but regularly sold separately even though they're not supposed to) you'll have to RMA it to the company that sold it to you.
Right click your windows start button, select system and it'll tell you :)
And when I eventually replace this one, hopefully they'll be past these problems.
Thanks.
Done that.
This is what it says.
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz 3.50 GHz
Installed RAM 8.00 GB
So, does that mean I'm ♥♥♥♥♥♥, or Ok?
That CPU is not affected, so you are okay.
But I am really surprised that you can't run the game then.
Your Graphics card meets the minimum specs.
Maybe leave a message for the developer on discord. As far as I know, that is the main channel to reach him.
The installed version of the NVIDIA graphics driver has known issues in D3D12.
Please install the recommended driver version or switch to a different rendering API.
Would you like to visit the following URL to download the driver?
https://www.nvidia.com/download/index.aspx
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
Installed: 471.68
Recommended: 536.40 or latest driver available
I've tried clicking on the link but instead of taking me to a driver update screen it starts asking me all sorts of personal information and comers across a some sort of scam site.
I tried it and I've managed to load the game and get to the main menu screen.
Just going to try and see if I can actually play the game.

Made it to Small Village without any problems, so fingers crossed it's working.
Greetings,
Just did a Nvidia search using your Video card as the needed driver.
It recommends this driver.
I don't know what you were looking at but your card can still use the newest drivers. Just some features will not be available.
Windows 10 64-bit
Windows 11
GeForce Game Ready Driver
Driver Version:
560.94
Release Date:
Tue Aug 20, 2024
File Size:
701.11 MB
This should get you to the download page:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/details/230852/
Do a Clean install
That's a manual selection of just the video driver and NOT the "experience" stuff.
- select clean install to remove any current settings
- That will mean you may/will have to go through the Nvidia control panel settings list and select what you want and what level if any from the global settings.
Ps: that 471 driver is nearly 2 yrs old, even Dx 12 has changed since that.
after the download, right click on the program icon, select properties,
- select "unblock" check mark box on bottom.
- select compatibility tab, look down and select the box for "Run this program as an Administrator", "apply"
- You can also click on the "change setting for all users"
- Then do the same check box for Run as Admin., "apply"
Your antivirus program may have quarantined the exe as it was from an "unknown"
- This is common for programs with an .exe as it will change settings in the system.
The program should now install correctly.
Once the program has unpacked, the Nvidia graphics Driver small window will appear.
- Select the radial button for Nvidia graphics driver. (ONLY) not the GeForce experience
- "agree and continue"
- select the "Custom (Advanced) radial button. then next
- A new pop up small window will appear. With selections for what you want to install.
- check off the Graphics driver and the PhysX System Software.
- Some flashing may happen when the driver is installing
- Select the "preform a clean install" check box on the bottom of that small window
- Select Next
(I also install the HD audio Driver but later disable it as I have a Creative sound card)
After the new drivers are installed, go to the Nvidia control panel and see "whats new for your card" There were many changes since that old driver was installed.
- Many new options that were not available earlier.
