Burgage plots orchard/farm not using entire lenght
I get this issue in my save, that the entire lenght of the plot is not being used for apple orchard/vegetable farm but only roughly 5-10%. Anyone has any idea why this happens?

The residents are probably occupied doing other stuff, like assigned job or construction or leading an ox around.

I try to keep at least one family unassigned, and I try to have times when there is no construction so they can tend their gardens.

Current playthrough I have assigned 3 families, one each from 3 burgages with vegetable gardens, to the stone church. They have lots of time to work their gardens.

But visually, the trees/vegetables do not spawn on the entire lenght. I could show you with a screenshot, I have trees growing only in the middle of the plot, occupying around 10% of the entire lenght.

Also my hunters do not even touch the hunting node. At this point I think I'll just start a new save...

When you placed the burgage plot, there must have been a dotted line separating the "housing" section from the "backyard" section. Do you remember where that line was? Because trees and vegetable garden plots will only be built on the side of that dotted line that is opposite from the "housing" section. If only a small part of the burgage plot is actual "backyard" and the rest is reserved for housing, despite your maximum of two houses not really needing that much space, you will have only a few small gardens/apple trees.

In this example, the outline of the burgage plot is represented with a clearly visible dotted line, but there is also a fainter dotted line separating the additional housing extension from the rest of the "backyard". Everything above (!) that dotted line will be usable to fill up with garden plots or apple trees. So this is a relatively efficient garden plot. If in your burgage plot the majority of space is reserved for housing and only a small pocket is actual backyard, your orchard or garden will be tiny.

Maybe that's what happened?

No point. Hunting is bugged in the current game. Deer will wander all over the map. It still works, just slower, since your hunters have to travel further.

A lot depends on how you set up your plots. As a rule of thumb, most of your plot area should be utilized, although as noted, with carrots they still need to plough. Trees appear as soon as you make an orchard though - they do take 5 years to become fully productive though.

I'd like to see screenshots of your plots (you did offer) so we can see what is going on.

Generally speaking, if you make a rectangular or square plot most of it should be filled, its only if you start doing strange shapes the amount of land used can go higher or lower than normal.

Thanks! It is a good idea but not what happens as the worked area is in the middle of the plot. Here is a screenshot: https://imgur.com/a/mSZO4d2 But thanks for showing interest in my issue!

Noted! Thanks for this info! Dropped a screenshot above using imgur regarding my issue.

your garden and orchard plots are definitely too long and narrow... this may also be what caused the error in what apple trees actually got planted.

Here's a link to a tutorial video that helped me find out how to make efficient gardens and orchards and how to estimate what yield they will have when finally ripened and reaching their full potential after 5-6 in game years:

Thank you a lot! Will view the guide and hopefully will have my answers there!

Ah, triangular plots can be a bit funky. Suggest you destroy and rebuild or change the plot to something else like eggs and build a new one.

That's right, a bit of finagling is required for them to work like they are supposed to. An easier method for large but efficient gardens:

Or my favourite for starting a new village:

How to do it (works every time!):

The malt maker is just a placeholder, will be deleted later.

That backyard should net you at least 90 apples/veggies per year after 5-6 years of cultivation.

As you can see, I use a combination of different sizes of gardens and orchards in my town layouts: Orchards are not plowed and harvested the same way that vegetable gardens are, so you can afford to make them a lot bigger than those.
