Settling new regions.
I've just successfully claimed the next region as I'm struggling for food and it has great fertility for crops. But I don't want to over extent myself and build a new settlement. So if I create a field and farmhouse there, will workers from my original settlement be able to farm it? Or as its a new region do I have to establish a whole new settlement instead?

Ah that's a shame, I was hoping it would be possible to just continue my current settlement, supported by the produce from the second one!

That would be a logical approach to starting a second region and not simply start right back at the beginning again.

If you can't help support a second region I think that's a missed opportunity.

Greetings,

The regions are too far apart for a days walk to work and back.
- Actually need workers to live in the region being used for materials movement back to the main area.

The big advantage I've found in having extra settlements is that you can use the barter station to move goods between them, and you can trade goods between them tariff-free (on the experimental patch).

In particular, the 'tools' every settlement begin with don't seem to have any use in the game, but they can be used as a high-value barter item, so you're not entirely without trade goods while you get the new region's economy up and running.

Edit: And also taxes. While you're settlement is small you don't pay the king's tax on it (in the experimental branch), so you can have small extractive settlements tax-free.

I just conquered a new region and had hoped I could transfer logs and firewood from there. My main region is almost stripped bare of trees so im having to import firewood. Would be good if in the future we could transfer resources from conquered areas. Small complaint game is awesome.

Why don't you use forresters?

I agree, having to start over from scratch in a new region sucks. I'd like to just expand my current region out instead of having to create a new region from the ground up every time.

trade logs between the regions via the trade post. Each Region is setup to be played individually.
