Market stall ownership
It would be nice to know if this mechanic is actually working as intended or if it's completely bugged out atm.

Not talking about the goods distribution, just the stalls ownership.

Are you actually supposed to not care too much and provide market space, or try and micro how many you got and who's handling them?

My preffered way would obviously be to have storage people only handling them, but I haven't found a way to do this reliably. Or maybe it could be the other way around by having buildings setting up stalls and logistics workers supplying them, idk.

Has anyone figured something out regarding this?

I've found it effective to only build the marketplace (zone) just big enough for the number of stalls that you need.
It's not a well designed system.

you can check the people tab and find out if they are manning the stall at all, sometimes they are busy with other stuff (ie their house is being upgraded and they are partipating in the construction), sometimes they just stop working and go home. In the later case I reload the game and they snap out of it.
My markets stop working once in a while and I mostly ignore it unless im actively trying to upgrade my plots, there doesnt seem to be much consequences its just nagging ( on normal demand setting anyway), if I have the goods in the storage I consider my part of the job done.

Yeah, there are a few bugs that go away after a restart or reload. Or in some cases a new game.

Regarding stall ownership: you want the stall owner to live and work as close to the market as possible to reduce walking time, but there are tradeoffs. They still have to walk out to the hunter or gatherer to collect goods for example. But they get to use a cart, which holds more goods (granary or storage workers). There are a number of things to consider here. It's an optimisation puzzle (which is the fun part).

So, what I do is create really small marketplaces, just enough space for a few stalls, Then occasionally I get an event message saying something like "The forager hut requests space for a market stall". This tells me that the current grannery workers can't take on any more work. As soon as I add another granner worker, an event message appears saying, "The grannery requests space for a market stall." I then resize the marketplace or create another small one and all seems well. Foragers, tanners, hunters, etc. should forage, tan or hunt, not run market stalls.
