I have an iron and weapons making town. I want to send helmets to my farming town as it has the bigger pop and bigger army. I figured, since my iron town needs some roofing tiles i would exchange those goods. So I set it up at an barter value of 1.7. I assumed it would be 1.7 tiles per 1 helmet. However I think its reversed but I wouldn't know because it doesn't say in the barter window.
ALL my helmets went to my farming town and my iron town has received a whopping 4 tiles in over an hour of gaming. I had 70 helmets.
The barting system is broken and indeed my farming town's regional wealth has been depleted from each delivery of helmets. I guess they bought them instead of trading for tiles.
Regional distribution is currently broken.
I do. I watch them run over to the tanners, load up their mule, then watch them trot to their neighbor village, drop off the leather, then grab a load of firewood or whatever and bring it back.
It MAY be bugged for you. Depending on if you opted in to the beta TEST release or are on the actual release. A good way to fix things is just a save and reload. If that doesn't work, which it honestly usually does, then try turning things on and off again.
Note, if you don't have anything for them to actually barter with, they will just go try to pick stuff up and hang out for a bit...
The total value of the of the goods being exchanged has to be equal, but the individual items being bartered don't have to match in value. So, if you are sending a shipment of cheap items and seeking to exchange them for expensive items then you will need to send more of the cheap items than you receive in the return.

But the maths is done automatically so you don't need worry much about it.
Contrary to Baghdad-Bob's assertion the barter system is the only part of this games Trade System that actually works and makes sense. The main Trade System was completed screwed by the last patch and has never worked reliably since.
Hopefully I MAY ALSO HAVE SOME ANSWERS FOR OTHERS . Time will tell eh.....
