What is Early Access? Here's what it really means.
What is Early Access?
- Early access is when a game is being released to the general public for the first time. AND THE GAME IS NOT COMPLETE.
There are missing features in the game
New updates and game overhauls are prone to happen
Everything is subject to change.

Why do people release in Early Access?
- Releasing in early access is to primarily have additional funding,
Making games isn't cheap, Slavic has been making this game for 4 years
The cost of living and creating is pretty high
The funding is also use to improve existing builds and to complete the development of the game

Why do people keep on asking dumb questions?
- Lots of people of are misinformed and don't know what they are saying because they have no source of information. If you don't like the game. Don't play it. If you have suggestions that actually make sense. There is a place for that.
I recommend joining the discord server for more info.

Hopefully this clears up confusion :))

nope, here is what it means 95% of the time.

What is Early Access?
E/A is a scheme dreamt up by Steam so shady, nasty people can
cobble together some random assets into something LOOSLY
resembling a game to squeeze as much profit from the platform
as possible...

EA was created to give indie devs a chance. Broadcast your game where gamers are looking, get people willing to pay to buy in. Dev gets money to fund development and unpaid playtesters, users get in on the ground floor of a potentially really good game that wouldn't have existed without their money.

It's the lowering of the entry bar that created what you describe. They got rid of Greenlight (which had its issues, sure) and basically said, "If you pay us your game is up, few questions asked." The idea was that only devs who were serious about their game would put down the money. The reality is that a far broader category of developers were willing.

So yeah, it's not exactly a "scheme". The intentions were good from the outset, and it's given us quite a lot of good examples (Kenshi, Rimworld, etc). It's just... Devolved, is all.

Early Access "good for indie games" not Electronic Arts "bad for the entire gaming space" dont mix em up please.

what it really means:

instead of finishing a game and securing pre-financing until it's ready, players are abused as beta testers and asked to pay for it, think what you want about it, but I've had enough of this ♥♥♥♥.
ScipioAfricanus Apr 23, 2024 @ 7:08am
Hmm I though tthat too Miracle But he already had beta testers, meaning that solution wouldn't work,

Early Access is a die roll. I've had good experiences and I've had bad. Grim Dawn was an example of one of the good. I'd give an example of one of the bad but those games never actually made it, or made it in a form so different from what they were in Early Access that they faded away. I'm betting that this will be a winning die roll, doesn't mean it will be. Yes we are paying to beta test, that's ok with me. To those who say it is a scam: Some times it can be, not always though...that's why I call it a die roll. Place your bet and be patient.

Here is what Early Access means according to an official source, versus any given person's opinion.

https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/earlyaccess

" Early Access is a place for games that are in a playable alpha or beta state, are worth the current value of the playable build, and that you plan to continue to develop for release."

this kind of simping turns my stomach upside down.

Go snag it on gamepass for a month and cancel the sub before months end. You will have a solid understanding where the game is heading and how long it may take. It may be worth it to buy it now or it may be wait until full release for your personal preferences.

This is how I am walking into this game. If I like it and feel its heading to a solid release in the future, I will throw the dev a bone and buy on steam. If not, I will wait down the road to try it again on PC gamepass likely when gamepass has something else I want to play.

Nice. A or B. Yes. Haha, never heard it before.

Then how about you phrase your question more succinctly to allow for the possibility that it is both, because in this case, that is what it is.

Something like this --
Is it content? Or is it mechanics? Or is it both?

Here's what it means: people talking absolute bull faeces.

Of all the EA games I've bought, only 1 has ever been abandoned before release. Am I just lucky? Perhaps, but then again perhaps not. I think it can be said that most of the time, it does work. And if I am wrong and have just been lucky; then c'est la vie.

Every day, 1 thread from over 6 months ago pulled up for no good reason.

Obvious trolling activity.
