not enough development points :(
i find that farming for general survival should be a bit easier. they should let us use plows and fertilize without the points because otherwise its pointless. the best yields i see are only like 50%

What kind of fertility do you have?

I've never spent a single point in farming points and I've managed to get a minimum of 1 year surplus of crops almost every single time.

61% is the best I've seen for Wheat, so far. That's closer to the middle of the +++ areas. also in high fertility regions.

As far as the development points, I find them unnecessary for farming. Irrigation MAYBE, because droughts are so common in the Summer.

Rye is good pick, if you don't have amazing fertility.

Apples, actually do get Put into the granary eventually, but I consider them a nice variety food.

I've tried Sheepbreeding and it barely pays the bills. So Fence Up seems useless to me, because leaving a field fallow for half a season usually boosts it back to normal anyways.

I don't see Bakeries being necessary, as 2 Communal Bakeries are keeping me flooded with Bread.

The number of development points is perfect. I hope the dev stops listening to everyone who just want this game to be Farmville with zero skill required.

all my "high fertility" areas in my main villages...3rd playthru now...are about 20-30%. because of the low yield i make the fields larger which makes plowing a pain by hand. currently my 3rd attempt i dont have many deer or berries so im always at like 2 or 3 months surplus.

I think you will get more points as soon more levels than T3 houses.
But as @Oddible said. Its not fun to unlock everything in every city. Each city should focus a skill tree

What I do to compensate for low yield is to create extra farms all sized roughly 0.6 Morgens. I get my primary four or so fields to a higher Priority, so they get planted at the very start of spring. A single fully staffed Farmhouse can handle 8 or so farms of this size in Spring, leaving some to Early harvest and plant again during the start of summer. The second yield is much lower, of course, but I find it a good offset when staring down tough winters.
Some green is better then other green. You really got to experiment with the placement to get fertility.

I think the Development Points are fine. Don't want to make things to easy.
