set up a trading post and start selling planks, or any materials coming from rich deposits in that region.
Also, if you're smart, you safe up some bandit camps, clear them out and send those resources to your new city.
That's how i started with 4K in regional wealth in my city, because i just led the bandits steal my stuff, and than wipe them out in one go.
Yes I'm trading, but once you have more than one town it's not really practical to assign money from bandit camps to a town any more unless it's near to the right one.
So it all goes to me mwuhaha. At least I get to set the tax to zero...
