Resources Stolen (and other things)
I know there's posts about this already and the suggestion is to just disable the bandits.

However, I'm curious if they are actually working as intended?

The bandits are over the other side of the map but they steal stuff from my area, surely if they are "nearby" then they should actually be nearby and not miles away and, from what I can tell, never actually come close to where I am?

I'm playing on default settings and the game is a bit ... Quirky ... I guess I could disable the bandits for now, are there any other settings you'd recommend changing for someone who's just got the game?

If you are playing on the default game mode where you have banditry and the AI Baron on the map, you should be getting 20 spears, and 20 large shields for you to create spearmen militia with once you've reached small village status. Should definitely create your militia and start killing bandit camps as quickly as possible because not only does this increase your personal treasury (to hire mercenaries) but you will gain influence. And influence will allow you to claim new lands. But if you don't want to deal with any of that there is a peaceful build mode.

Yeah I got that far, I guess it's just a bit alien to me that another zone is considered to be "nearby" despite being 2 zones away.

I thought I'd have to stick to my starting zone for a while because creating a bunch of armed people and marching around was aggressive but - that said - I haven't really tried it.

I'll give it a shot next time I fire it up, thanks.
