It gets a little expensive to trade in *lots* of stuff (for an early town I mean) but at least just to build the church - and I think lvl3 houses need some too -you can import in clay for requirements. Once you get a fair bit of leveled up houses (even a bunch of 2's work) you'll start making more funds for trading later if you wish.
Or claim other regions eventually and barter for some clay from it w/a resource you do have a lot of.
as they cant share land with close by building
i encounter this twice, both time are because theres other building next to it.
i didnt know the first time, 2nd time i deleted the building next to it and it back to normal
i believe its similiar to the building mechanic will delete resource on ground.
other building close by killed the iron/clay
but might need further testing, as i didnt do another test to confirm it
And if you have rich clay, you can get the deep mine dev perk and mine clay forever.
